My next question is, have you applied to other programs in the area? Limiting yourself to one school isn't really the best of ideas. You can do a community college and then do an RN-BSN completion online. I went to a private school and obtained a bachelors degree, with all of the lovely expense associated with it. Now I am enrolling in a public community college to get my RN. Do not limit yourself, and know that many community colleges have great programs. In fact, the little two year college I will be going to has had 100% NCLEX pass rate three years running, and 98% the year before that streak. No other program can boast that in my area.

Apply to other programs. A dream is just that until you will do anything to make it reality. I wish you the best of luck.

Look at other programs. Putting all of your eggs in one basket is never a good strategy. And the fact that you failed a pre-requisite course and had to repeat (as opposed to repeating to bring a B up to an A) was likely the deciding factor. Human Growth and development is not a hard science course, either.

I will be applying to ten different nursing programs consisting of 4 safe schools (you can never be too safe), 3 good schools, and 2 high reach schools. Because I know that I could get into at least two of the safe schools (rolling admission); one of the good schools; and maybe none of the high reach schools (lol but I'm still going to apply anyway because they don't require an application fee).

So my suggestion to you is to not make yourself so limited by only applying to one school; give yourself other options by applying to a lengthy list of college/universities that may interest you or pertain to your needs. Then once those acceptance letters start coming in you'll like the feeling of being in control of own your life by not letting a simple rejection letter or admission representative stop you from other avenues of becoming a nurse. Especially, if you are working hard enough and putting in the effort to learn and to make better of yourself. If you feel like you deserve it then you deserve it; plain and simple.

So just remember that for the next two years when you'll probably still be waiting to get into that same dearest nursing program. Good luck to you regarding my $0.02.

You should ask your school what they base acceptance on. For instance, at my school, repeating a pre req course results in being put in "Tier 2" for consideration--all of the Tier 1 students are considered first no matter what. If your school is very competitive, a B in a pre req may not be sufficient. There are some students with 4.0s who do not get accepted; it all depends on the school. What was your cumulative and pre req GPA?

It's highly doubtful this had anything to do with your rejection from the program. It is far more likely that they accepted students who had higher grades and did not have to repeat any classes.

Nobody but yourself is the cause of you not being in nursing school.

I have a 3.79 and only repeated one class, yes I have applied to several other schools and have been accepted to 4 of the 5. Yeah, yeah I know it's a no brained of what to do but it's the simply fact of not knowing why I didn't get into my dream program. Like I said on my post. I'm just Venting.

You've been accepted into four programs? Uh, yeah, checking out of this thread before I say something that will get me banned.

I don't understand why you are discouraged because you didn't get accepted into this one program? As long as the other programs are accredited and have a high pass rate what's the big deal? Go to the cheapest program and be done with it.

Why didn't you pass human growth and development? I'm being curious.

It's ok to vent and we all do but I think you are reading too much into it and using your energy for something... Well I can't use the word I want. Start concentrating on school for the fall semester, kick rocks to the school that didn't accept you and be done with it.

It doesn't really matter "why" you didn't get in to that program. Nursing school is very competitive; there were undoubtedly many others who also had decent grades who didn't get in either. You are not always going to get what you want, and the best way to handle adversity is to just keep looking forward.
