Studying pharm
I passed mine by remembering mnemonics. Pinterest was my best friend for that class.

Does the VA prefer to hire internally?
From what I have been told by nearly everyone that ever worked at the VA is that they will hire people that they know first. One person I know volunteered there for networking purposes before he was hired on.

Is this legal?
I worked for a Medicaid HMO plan, and we ran into this issue where hospitals would bill for things at the higher level of care cpt codes when it wasnt appropriate. If it was paid in error, it would be taken back. If it was determined that this was done knowingly and to cause deceit, aka fraud, they would be subjected to a formal state investigation. If found guilty, state funding and licenses are pulled. It is not legal to commit fraud.

Aiken Tech Fall 2015 Hopefuls
I am registered for the July 17 class. I am trying to buy the smaller things now so I am not so overwhelmed. I was told we need a white watch, nursing scissors, a pen light, a stethoscope and white socks. Oh and the scrubs are Cherokee brand and we have to get the unisex ones. I am buying the almost everything via eBay except the scrubs, which are actually more expensive on there. I had forgot to ask if the watch can be digital or if it has to be the kind with the hands.

Can I apply for a student position with an RN license?
If you are looking to get a foot in the door, look at their unit secretary and admissions positions.

Can I apply for a student position with an RN license?
This is a job for those that are still actively in the program. You will not be considered, and honestly, why would you want to be? It is basically a tech job.

Aiken Tech Fall 2015 Hopefuls
Hey I just wanted to let you all know that although CVS will do the physicals and TB tests, it is $79 for the physical, $28 for the TB test, and another $28 to get it read. I just called Doctors Urgent and Primary Care, and they offer same day appointments. They take most insurances and the copay is considerably less than the total would be. Mine will be less than the TB test itself.

Potential Nursing student in the dark
Georgia most definitely DOES have programs ADN. Have you checked community colleges in your area?

Nursing Entrance Exam
I used this book TEAS Study Guide Version 5: Teas V Exam Prep and Practice Test Questions for the Test of Essential Academic Skills: 9781941759301: Medicine & Health Science Books @ Amazon.com I liked it, and I also used free online resources that popped up when I googled 'free Teas study'

Teas exam in just 6 days!
relax, first off. Go over your weak points and study those. You will need to know how to calculate probability, percentage, fractions...pretty basic stuff. Reading comprehension, science, and language. It is really not that bad. There are free practice tests available online, google them and they pop right up.

does high school matter?
To an extent, if you have dual credit courses, it definitely will. I had 12 credit hours that I actually took in high school that are college credit hours. The rest...to be honest, not to a community college. For the more prestigious colleges it will. Other than that, they make sure that you have good GPA in your pre-reqs and that you did indeed graduate high school.

Should I wait to have a baby?
It depends solely on you. Some people can barely handle school without kids, others have many and do well. You also need to take into consideration that, although you are not old, women over 35 have increased risks associated with pregnancy. That can be a deciding factor either way for you. 1. You may not want to increase risk by waiting to get pregnant, or 2. You may not want to go through a high risk pregnancy while going through a rigorous program. I would do as others suggest and speak to an OBGYN, and decide your best course of action based on your individual educational goals, medical advice, and family situation.

Aiken Tech Fall 2015 Hopefuls
I am not strong or weak in math. I can do it if I take the time to slow down. At the same time...it couldn't hurt to have the extra help. I am in the ADN program. I would have taken the LPN program if I had not been accepted into the ADN though. Aiken Tech's offering of the CPR class is much cheaper than I have found elsewhere, so I am going to use them to do it. I am shooting for the one on the 17th since my husband is off that day and can be with my son. And yes...the packet itself is daunting !
