  1. Thank you! Oh and good news: I am now taking coursecourses that will go towards my nursing degree. I talk to the school I want to transfer into next year and they told me since it's a direct entry private university that they don't require perquisites and I should be fine If I could get at least a 3.0 and pass my entrance exam.
  2. California is not a very forgivingstate, and it is one of the worst states to be convicted of a crime in and also trying to get licensed. You could always look into other states but I'm sure that 3 years of probation will definitely follow you to the end of the earth, plus this DUI has happened too recently for anyone to give you a definate answer. I suggest getting yourself a legal lawyer who could help you to at least get your license with just some stipulations and a few restrictions or maybe none. But a license is better than no license. But definitely look into a lawyer because we're really not allowed to give legal advice on this site...
  3. There is actually a couple nice looking male nurse who works at the hospital I volunteer at and she got a glimpse of them as well. Lol, and I didn't know there are a lot of gay male nurses...
  4. You're not hijacking anything.
  5. Lol, I did not make this thread to "dog" my friend because if I wanted to I would've wrote her name in the post. I also did not create this thread to elicit responses, otherwise I would've asked for your response like I do in my other posts. This thread was made solely on the purpose to inform others how people really do think that nursing is a laid back, clean profession. So if I came off as if I was chastising my friend then I apologize because that was not my intent and I didn't do it intentionally.
  6. I should probably change the title then because it wasn't made clear to me until now that this was the reason why people are getting offended? I only meant this thread to share some insight on my friend's thoughts of how she really don't know what she's getting herself into until she gets a real glimpse of it, and their are more people like that who just chose nursing because it's convenience. Like how I wanted to be a veterinarian not know anything about it until I actually shadowed a vet, and that's when I quickly changed majors when the time was convenient.
  7. I agree because I originally wanted to be a veterinarian because I loved animals and at one point I had 5 dogs. But after spending a day in a vet hospital I was not at all swayed to get into that profession. I mean one dog even tried to attack me when I went to pet it.
  8. I'm not a nurse, but I'm around nurses daily so I get to witness a lot to comment on it and give pointers to my friend. Just saying.
  9. Wow lol, I didn't think my post would offend so many people (like jeez). In my earlier post I didn't mean to make it sound like I was controlling her and her future, she can be a nurse if she wants to. Yeah, I did make her aware of the financial obligation, but I cannot in any way stop a grown woman from doing what she wants to do. Just because I suggested something else doesn't mean she's going to do it. I told her the ADN would be the cheaper route for her and she could get into the profession much sooner, because she originally thought the only way to become a RN was to get your BSN. So I don't see how I'm wrong for that, but sorry if I came off too judgmental. I agree with you.
  10. Lol, the hospital that I currently volunteer at hires ADN nurses, plus there's are all sorts of community hospitals in the Chicago suburbs that still hire ADNs (I looked into it before I suggested it to my friend). But I do know what you're getting at. However, she already took out a pretty big private loan to pay off the university we are currently attending. She even joked about being over a 80k by the time she graduates. I don't see how it's funny though. Everyone flocks downtown for the "BSN preferred" so now the community hospitals has no choice to still hire the ADNs.
  11. If I offended someone with my earlier or original post that was not my intentions. My main point was that she said her comment as if she was doing it only for the money, and I honestly don't think the pay is worth it for someone who Is only doing it for the money. That's what I meant, and she has a strange phobia of feet, so I don't know how it'll work out for her seeing feet a lot. She's my roommate so I should know. And that's why "money" is in bold print. Because I do agree the pay is good money if you love what you do.
  12. I didn't actually think I was making her do anything. I'm not directly telling her to not to become a CNA or get her BSN. Plus, I just want to help her because she's my friend.
  13. Lol, I know a CNA can assist in a birth. And I'm not trying to sabotage my friend, I'm actually helping her by not allowing her to take out a high amount of private loans. She doesn't qualify for finacial aid because her mother doesn't have a SSN, and she just decided she wanted to be a nurse two days after her niece's birth when she was looking into becoming a CNA. She didn't even look into what nursing was or what nurses do. And yeah I do know about nursing, and just because I'm a pre-nursing student doesn't me I'm uneducated about the field I want be in for the better part of my life. Plus, the money is not worth it in her home state where new grads are started off at $18 an hour. Here in Chicago, most are started of at $27+ an hour.
  14. If you truly want to get that 1 year of ICU experience then I say go for it. You may start off rough in the beginnings of transitioning but it'll soon go more smoothy once you and your gets kids settled. Plus, you'll have that extra benefit of $4.07. It's not much, but it'll still help you in your journey of saving up for CRNA school.
  15. Lol, and you were going crazy.
