Hi everyone, i would really like some advice, i an a sophomore in college right now. I am 22 year old, and i feel like no matter how hard i try, i will never be an RN. I am failing one of my classes which is micro, i have a C right now in it and need an A, and everyone around me in my school who has started college after me is getting accepted into the program, and i still have 4 classes to be done, so i can get a higher GPA, mine is a 2.65 i know its horrible i want to be a nurse so badly, but i feel that i'll be in college forever trying to meet their standards. Btw one of my stuggles is math i'm horrible at it( which is holding me back from being fully done with my gen ed), I just want to know, if its possible anymore.
Sorry for my rant, which was everywhere. I am just very depressed over this.

I'm in my second semester of pre-reqs right now & close to failing micro. In fact, I'm going to withdraw from the class on Monday because I don't want my GPA being pulled down. I'm 32 and feel like by the time I'll be able to even apply to nursing school, I'll be an old lady. LOL. It's not true, for either myself or you. :) I just wanted to let you know that someone else totally understands where you're coming from. Don't give up! ♥

Sometimes a strategic withdrawal is in order to save your GPA. As for the feelings of not going to make it, you've got to know its normal. You just have to find ways to keep yourself motivated. Also, if your struggling with a course, it might be wise to take it by itself or with a lighter course load.

I completely understand your struggle! When I returned to school 5 years ago I had a GPA of 1.5 and today I have brought it up to a 3.0 or 3.1 and with 149 GPA hrs that isn't an easy task! I Also did not preform well the first time I took Micro and path BUT i didn't give up! I retook both classes and went from a C in Mrcio to an A and from a D in path to an A. I have watched many many of my classmates get accepted into programs, graduate, and start the nursing careers. As for me I'm still waiting to see the words congratulations instead of We regret to inform you. Never give up on a dream or a passion!
I'm currently waiting to hear from the program I applied for….was told today that my file was still being reviewed.
(that means I'll have a couple more panic attacks before it's all said and done!) After 5 rejection letters I'm a little gun shy

You and I are pretty similar.
For one, my college GPA is a 2.76, not great at all. I feel for you on feeling like you're not good enough because of that. As for Micro, have you tried talking to your instructor? I'm doing OK in my AP and Micro, but I study a ridiculous amount. Are you looking into the wrong information when you study? Or are you not studying enough? There's a whole bunch of things. I know for me, I've felt like giving up so much lately. I have 6 weeks left of this semester, I'm burnt out, and overwhelmed. I don't want to do it anymore. But if I can force myself to get up and continue, so can you! We can do this. It sucks, it hurts, we're tired, and irritated. But it's worth it! :)
GOOD LUCK!

I know what your saying. My gpa is around that and I just got accepted into a lpn nursing school.i was worried I'd never get in. Look into schools that only look at teas v tests. That's how I got In. I have a low gpa but scored high on the test so I was accepted. Maybe look into lpn courses then bridge over. You can do it!

I would see if your school offers free tutoring especially in the math. My school has a whole dept. devoted to math tutoring and writing tutoring. I think in math sometimes it takes the right instructor to explain it to you. I finally have that so I am doing well in math for the first time in my life. I'm 37 and working on my prereqs right now and going to apply to the program in April for next fall. I would sit down with your adviser and see what you can do about your micro class. I love micro and have a great professor who has her PHD in it and has traveled around the world studying microorganisms. She is a wealth on knowledge and is always telling us fascinating stories. She also brings it to our level and understands this is an entry level class.

The brave may fall, but never yield! Do not give up, I can tell you want this badly. If you give up on yourself u will NEVER be a nurse, so keep trying its the only way. Good luck!

If you can't get As in your pre-reqs, then you need to take a step back and reassess your priorities. You need to study more and that's the bottom line. There literally is no excuse not to get good grades. Nursing school will wreck you compared to pre-reqs. So acquire some better study habbits and sink more time into your academics. Good luck!

You'll be just fine, you just have to motivate yourself more. I'm also taking pre reqs for nursing and math held me back, but I never quit. Keep pushing and if you truly want to be a nurse you won't anything get in your way.
