  1. Private Schools have a lot of AID for the most part to give out to their students.. A lot of people are against them on this forum for some reason, but you touched on a great point. The different you end up paying after all the grants, and scholarships is about 5-10K difference. Very minuscule compared to you waiting around to get off a waitlist and a public school. If you can get into a Private School, I'd go for it, because you'd sit there wasting money in a public school waiting around for spots in the program to open up. Just my 2c.
  2. Many people on this forum gave me so much advice over the months, and I still log on to read all of the anxious posts from Pre-Nursing Students alike. I cannot thank everyone enough for helping me decide what I wanted to do in life, and open my eyes to different fields in healthcare. I have ultimately decided that I will be getting my BS in Biochemistry, and hope to get into Medical School. My dream school is NSU-COM. Nova Southeastern University - College of Osteopathic Medicine. I want to be a DO in Emergency Medicine, so I know it's going to be a long path but I am ready for it. Just wanted to update everyone, not that all of you care, but out of respect.
  3. I don't think I've been this excited for an upcoming semester in a really long time, and it actually feels great to be excited about school again. I feel like it's my first day of fifth grade all over again! This semester I will be taking: Pre-Calc Into to Sociology Biology 110 (Health Professions) Chemistry I English I In the summer, I'll be doing both A/Ps due to the teachers being really good , and I'll be able to focus on just that class! :)
  4. I'm saying will my CC look at my GPA at lets say Pace. A/P 1 in Summer Session 1 A/P 2 in Summer Session 2
  5. Well of course they're going to look for GPA at the community college I am going to be attending, but I am wondering about my other GPA, as since I did transfer in all the credits I did transfer doesn't effect my school that I will currently attend
  6. I would like to point out, that if you are a little nicer you might get better answers. That being said, you can graduate with your BA in History, then continue onto an aBSN. Which is an accelerated Bachelors of Science in Nursing. It's not a Graduate program.. In order to get into a Graduate program for Nursing you need to have a degree in Nursing if I'm not mistaken. While you're finishing your BA in History, see if you can take the pre-reqs to the nursing school you want to attend. Most nursing programs around the area has the same pre-requisites. I wouldn't really go and get an ADN because you will more than likely have a bachelors if you decide to continue with the BA. Call local schools or schools you wish to apply to for nursing and they can tell you all the prerequisites you might need. An ADN program isn't necessarily easier, because you are being taught the fundamentals of nursing and at the end you still need to pass your boards at the end, and schools hold nursing students at a high standard because in order to be accredited they need to have a high pass rate (I believe 85%+). I wish you the best of luck.. I really recommend is to finish that BA in History. Possibly if you cannot finish the pre-reqs at your current university, that you go to a community college where you can do pre-reqs at a fraction of a cost and go for the aBSN. Good Luck!
  7. Also are RN to BSN programs easier to get into?
  8. Like the above poster, I am also confused on why you would need your ACT scores. Unless it's optional.
  9. iPad! It's a must for me, and my charger! I do like to have pretzels because I do have long days and they suck.
  10. Have you considered an aBSN since you do have a prior bachelors? I don't know your GPA from your previous major. A lot of places are starting to shy away from hiring ADNs and only hiring BSNs. Which makes me nervous because I want to start with an ADN program in order to get my GPA up and everything. Look around in your area for aBSNs and see if that is also a viable option. You'll be finishing up the same time for the most part as your ADN (that it being 4 semesters). aBSN = Accelerated. Good Luck!
  11. Well with any book, you're never going to get as close to the same amount as you paid for the book. Especially if there is a newer version out, which means schools will start switching to the newer book in due course and ultimately the book you own now will become priceless. That's how they make a killer with school textbooks. I honestly recommend doing either Amazon or Chegg, or you're going to be sitting on the book while the selling value goes even lower. You could possibly sell the book to another student from your school if the class requires it at a fraction of the cost. I don't think you'd get anything above $40 and that's even a fetch. Just look around and see what people will give it to you for. Goodluck.
  12. Some of you may have seen my previous posts and I don't want to go into it anymore. The past is the past and I want to move in the future! I am just wondering if ADN programs look at GPAs from other schools? I'm hoping this isn't the case.. I'm starting to take all my prerequisites in the spring and on. I already have Psychology done. In the Spring I'm taking: Sociology, Biology, and Chemistry In the summer: A&P 1/2 I'm hoping to get into the ADN program , but if I don't -- if I retake classes (I know the old grades won't erase from my transcripts) but will future schools weigh the newer grades into their decision. Or stick with the old ones? This is for future BSN programs as well..
  13. I will more than likely take A&P over the summer. Both courses, the only thing is I heard of how intense it is. But as it is my only course, it won't be as bad.. I was wondering, what study habits did you use for A&P and is there anything I can read or websites that will help me.. I do over the spring semester want to learn A&P before I enter the course. I want to apply to the nursing program as early I can, to help myself taking useless classes. This spring I am taking 17 Credits: Chemistry I Intro to Biology (Which is the Pre-Req for A/P) English I Pre-Calculus (Already took Statistics and etc) Sociology
  14. To be honest, even in my area where they were ADN friendly, they no longer higher associates degrees. You should do an accelerated BSN. Or you're still going to be twiddling your thumbs for a while looking for a job.
  15. Wait I don't get why you don't go the Pre-Med route? Like as a Chem, Bio, or BioChem major? If you're doing Nursing as a backup plan, go for the regular 4 year degree in Biology or Chem, or whatever you want to major in (but do the Pre-Requisites) and if you don't get into Med School due to grades or shadowing or whatever it may be. You could always do an ABSN. To be honest, I don't think you know what you want to do, and you are trying to decide nursing school because you might like that, but you love the "power" as a doctor. Set your priorities.
