Fear and Anxiety

This virus is scary, especially with so many not following the rules and recommendations. Nurses COVID

The only two stores that I go to are the grocery store and the gas station. People are not wearing a mask or gloves.

I asked one man at a grocery store, (who wasn't wearing a mask or gloves), "Aren't you scared about getting the coronavirus?" He said, "No, I've been to two other countries and haven't caught anything."

Then I see parents in the grocery stores with their child in the seat and they're holding onto the handle, and I was thinking, I hope that child will not catch anything. What are these people thinking?

I wish the president would say that everybody entering a store, gas station, & etc. has to wear a mask and gloves to enter. It is these people who are going to spread it to someone, and then that person spreads it to so and so, and on and on. This just showed me all these people that do not wear a mask do not care about children or the elderly. There are a lot of people in this world that don't care and I've seen it. SHAME ON THEM!!

I want to get back to socializing. I can't even go to church and be with my church family because of this virus. I miss being around them. I also miss being around my grandbabies and all my loved ones and friends.

My anxiety is through the roof! When I do go to these two places, I just get out start walking into the store like always and think, "Oh my gloves and my mask." Then I start talking to God, and say "Please DEAR LORD let people listen about wearing gloves and masks so other people don't get it and die."

We need to get this pandemic taken care of. I just think it should be mandatory for everybody that goes to the stores, gas stations, etc. to wear masks and gloves. And maybe we can get this thing under control and go back to a normal life.

I feel sorry for people out of work. Because some of them don't have the money for their bills. I'm sure it's been like a small vacation for them, but I would like for them to get back to their jobs and get the economy going again, so everybody is paying their bills correctly and not worrying.

HEROES, KEEP STAYING SAFE. NURSES, DOCTORS, & FRONTLINERS, YOU ARE THE BEST!! MAY GOD KEEP YOU SAFE FROM THIS PANDEMIC.

You deserve a wonderful vacation to wherever you want.

Small prayer... Please dear Lord Will you keep my brother safe as he is really in the front lines in the hospitals not just one but a few because he is a director of them. And he has diabetes. Keep you're umbrella over him so that he is safe. AMEN!

I hope that soon the president will make everybody wear gloves and mask until this virus is over.

THANK YOU!!

EDITED TO ADD

I found out that the President said the Coronavirus Committee recommended that everyone should wear masks in public and that it is up to the Governor of each state to make sure that this happens.

I don't think we are ready to open up businesses because people are not wearing masks. I know people need their money, and I miss going in restaurants, grocery stores, etc. without having to wear my mask.

Please, everyone, be careful!

This should be a wake-up call for the United States of America. None of us were prepared for this deadly virus.

I guarantee I will be stocking up on all kinds for items and be ready.

Just like we have to be ready and get our tornado precautions together during tornado season. Please businesses, I hope they do like everything they are supposed to so that we may not continue to spread this virus around. Good luck businesses I'm glad that you are getting to open. I'm just scared that it will still spread.

Everyone be safe and God bless you!

But the conversation isn't solely about requiring healthy people to stay at home. It's about requiring everyone to wear masks as a reasonable way to safely open America back up. How is that tyranny?

I tried that over past couple of days. Here’s how it went....

It's tyranny because people are being fined or threatened with arrest for merely wanting to breathe without a mask on in public. That's unacceptable. This is America, not Communist China. If you don't want to wear a mask you don't have to. (Not necessarily wise, but still should never be coerced on people).

Certain politicians have gone off their rockers with this. Here in Texas, they locked up a salon owner in Dallas for daring to reopen. So they want to free the hardened criminals because of Coronavirus, but have no issues throwing small business owners, and eventually those who refuse to wear masks, in those same jail cells. That's how punch-drunk on power they have become. (Thankfully the Texas Supreme Court had the salon owner freed).

The anti-smoking law targeted smoking. These laws are "guilt without evidence" and label everyone as Coronapositive. When the government requires sick people to stay home, that's quarantine. When the government requires healthy people to stay home, that's tyanny.

"Guilt without evidence" is a misrepresentation of the best option available after the country completely mishandled the modern responses to the virus leaving us to combat spread with the bare minimum 19th century techniques of hand washing, social isolation, and rudimentary face coverings. That presumed guilt is the natural outcome of Trump's feckless pandemic response and ongoing planning. Without adequate testing in the presence of a highly contagious disease which enjoys a long period of asymptomatic spread AND a significant percentage of carriers who never experience symptoms, yeah everyone begins to look as dangerous as a black jogger in Georgia.

Let's not even talk about the accuracy issues with some of the tests being used.

Cries of tyranny over requiring safe public behavior during an unprecedented epidemic are only evidence of some people's fears and anxieties. There is no evidence that such governmental exercise is intended to hurt any individual or group or that it actually Jaymes anyone.

Forcing people to work in unsafe work conditions during a national health emergency, with threat of financial devastation, by the government, could rightly be seen as tyrannical.

I think you are overdue to look up the true definition of tyranny instead of throwing it out there as a scare tactic. This is not tyranny, even if you don't feel it is right, it is NOT tyranny.

And no, she didn't get locked up for just daring to reopen. She got locked up because she decided, on her own, that she was above everything and would reopen despite Governor Abbott's orders, despite a cease-and-desist letter, despite multiple attempts to allow her to avoid being jailed which she refused to ignore. That's why she was taken to jail and she was fully aware of those consequences when she decided to make a show about it all.

This is temporary. We are talking months here to save lives. Everybody wants to reopen, nobody wants to stay closed, nobody is choosing to stay closed just for the hell of it. Nobody wants this just to want it. But sometimes you've got to make temporary "sacrifices" and adjustments to get back on track. And you have to have a safe, smart, logical plan to get back on track instead of jumping right in.

People can make their own sacrifices if they so choose to. Months have already passed. Enough is enough. Those who want to keep up with the endless quarantine can do so. Our state is thankfully going back to normalcy with incremental steps. I look forward to getting a much overdue haircut next week, among other things. After all, those who want to hide forever from the public to stay Corona-free guaranteed aren't being dragged out into the streets. Free country.

LOL, the argument that nudists have been making for years. ?

"It's tyranny because people are being fined or threatened with arrest for merely wanting to be in their nude, natural form in public."

Except that unlike people who refuse to wear masks, nudists being nude doesn't risk literally killing another person (only offending their sense of morality...)

(I'm guessing your spirit animal Mike Pence might not agree......)

Reading comprehension. You and I were not talking about staying in quarantine. We had moved on to talking about opening up the state but making people wear masks for a certain time frame to ensure safety. This is what we were discussing. But you keep spewing the same ridiculous argument over and over again so it is clear you aren't open to other viewpoints.

In my city no one has been arrested, ticketed, fined, or otherwise punished for not wearing a mask, although it is the law for anyone going into a store or within six feet of another person to wear one. Store employees give a mask to anyone wanting to enter without one. On sidewalks officers remind people to wear a mask and give anyone without one a disposable surgical mask.

Also in my city the ONLY people questioned by police were those who opened their non essential business AND refused to close until it became legal. I know of only one smoke shop that was cited for opening repeatedly for several days. The officer told the owner that if it opens illegally again the mayor has authorized the city to turn off water and power. No mention of arrest or ticket and fine.

Starting tomorrow most retail businesses will be allowed to reopening for curbside pick-up with adherence to distancing and infection-control protocols. Parks and golf courses are open to all. Hiking trails are open to those under 65. These rules remain:

Wear a face covering while on trails and when running errands, Wash hands throughout the day, Stay six feet away from people who don’t live with you.

That's great that your city isn't imposing levies. Here in Houston, the county judge says $1000 fine for those seen in public not masked up. Unbelievable. And like I mentioned before, here in Texas (albeit in another city) a salon owner was sent to jail. This has gone too far. Those that scared of someone else's breath should go hide under covers if they so choose. But they should not try to get the rest of the planet to cater to their fears and anxieties.

I have rarely seen a police officer OR a grocery employee have to ask someone to put on a mask, and have never seen anyone refuse. If the salon owner had defied the law and reopened her salon her utilities would have been turned off.

Being close to an unmasked person talking, singing, or coughing seems as dangerous to me as jay walking or running a stop sign or red light on a skateboard, scooter, or bicycle.

I'm glad it is not legal to be close to someone you don't live with without a mask in Los Angeles.

I’m beginning to think you’re simply posting for amusement as you claimed to be a bernie supporter yet your voluminous posts portray a worldview that is diametrically opposed to bernie’s platform. My opinion, I’m seldom right but never been wrong.

Yes, posting nonsense for shock value gets annoying after a while.

A shame, as buried in there are some legitimate concerns, but calling people cowards, communists, tyrants, facists demonstrates either an astounding lack of understanding of these terms, or the need to dominate the conversation.
