FCCJ Summer 2010 hopefuls...

Published

Is it too early to start a thread like this? LOL

I'll be finishing up my pre-requisites this fall, and then applying in the spring for the Summer 2010 session. I still need to study for the NAT and actually take the exam and take a CPR course. I'm considering getting my CNA and trying to find work in healthcare to get my foot in the door.

I am so nervous about the whole process, nervous about whether I should try to work and go to school, and especially nervous if this is something I can handle. I am afraid of all the responsibility.

Anyone else planning for next Summer? What is your process looking like, what are your thoughts/feelings?

I think I want to work after getting my ADN and make some money then go back to FSCJ if I want to.

Not a big difference in BSN and ADN right?

At the hospital I work at, there is only a 50 cent differential for BSN. And I graduated from FSCJ in August, and you can go back to get your BSN at JU as soon as 8 weeks after you graduated from FSCJ. I took a whole semester off and just started back in January, but other programs to look at are UCF and UWF. I want to do Peds, so I went back as soon as I could because it is hard to get on at Wolfson's without your BSN.

I'm not sure where I got 194 from, maybe I rounded up. The cut off was 193.52

But seriously maybe that is why it took so long for me to get my letter. I think they START sending out letters to the accepted and maybe those far down on the denial list. My letter came just days before Finals Week. It was seriously the most stressful couple of weeks waiting. I had heard Thanksgiving. We'd hear by Thanksgiving.

Thanks for the info about the other programs. A nurse friend of mine also suggested waiting so that your employers (if you work at a hospital) can pay for your advanced degrees. Which would REALLY help.

So... now that we are waiting, is anyone doing anything to get ready for next semester?

I've applied to both FSCJ and JU too. It seems like every semester it is getting more and more competitive!!!! especially at FSCJ

If you don't mind me asking, what are your points for FSCJ??

For those confident with their points or those that think they will be reapplying again in the fall??:D

I personally do not think that I have enough points for the summer daytime program (194), so I am going to retake the NAT, TWICE, before the next deadline :yeah:

When did take the NAT?

When did take the NAT?

I took the NAT 2/5/09 and 5/10/09. So, since I have to wait a FULL year before I can retake it, I am able to take it again after 2/5 and then 90 days after that! I was bummed that I couldn't take it on 2/1/10 but rules are rules! This way I will feel better knowing I can take it two more times if I don't get in for the summer!

I can't take it again until just before the next Spring deadline... If I don't get in by then, I'm not sure what I'll do. Lots of crying probably. :uhoh3:

I am trying to figure out how to bide my time before they start sending the letters out. I think about it all the time. I am going to Las Vegas on the 26th for my cousin's bachelorette party so I'm trying to use that as a filler for now with the plans and helping her with stuff. I also work and volunteer on a board at a local football field for my kids. It should be enough to keep me occupied but it isn't working yet :banghead:

So... now that we are waiting, is anyone doing anything to get ready for next semester?

I have no classes and no job so all Im doing is waiting.

I've just been exercising, playing basketball and tennis, and playing video games. Stuff I usually did when I had classes, but now I doing more of it to pass the time.

I think I have a good chance of getting in he program but no idea how to prepare for it.

So... now that we are waiting, is anyone doing anything to get ready for next semester?

Whatever plans anyone has between now and when nursing school begins, just have fun and enjoy the free time. From what I hear, once you start NS, free time is just a memory :)
