Is it too early to start a thread like this? LOL
I'll be finishing up my pre-requisites this fall, and then applying in the spring for the Summer 2010 session. I still need to study for the NAT and actually take the exam and take a CPR course. I'm considering getting my CNA and trying to find work in healthcare to get my foot in the door.
I am so nervous about the whole process, nervous about whether I should try to work and go to school, and especially nervous if this is something I can handle. I am afraid of all the responsibility.
Anyone else planning for next Summer? What is your process looking like, what are your thoughts/feelings?
Hey all, I've been keeping up on this thread because I also applied for the summer program, I was wondering if anyone could answer a question for me that I have heard and read conflicting answer too. For your total score, do they use your MAC1105 score, or if you have taken a higher level course such as STA2023 do they use that grade? And does this apply to ENC1101/1102?Thanks in advance!
When I went to meet with lady in the nursing dept in charge of reviewing apps (we can't put names on here!), I was told that when it comes to math they take your highest grade in anything higher than and including college algebra. So if you recieved an A in MAC1105 in '08 and a B in STA2023 in '09, they will take the MAC grade. If you retake a course (for some reason), they take the most RECENT grade. Example, if you took MAC1105 in '08 and got a B and then you retook the course in '09 and got a C, they will take the C grade.
However, in english it's not the same. They only accept ENC1101 grades! Nothing higher, trust me! I have a C in ENC1101 from 1993 and I HAVE to use that grade. I am not able to retake it (no matter how long ago it was taken) and I can't use my A in ENC1102......it stinks.......
Hope that helps! How many points are you applying with for the summer?
I don't think its cruel to post the days because we all know we're keeping track. The wait Is awful though. I don't know how to make everyone stop asking me if I heard anything. I told them eight weeks. I guess time flies when you're not waiting to get into nursing school.
Hey, if we look at the glass as half full, the six week deadline is closer than the full eight weeks! LOL
SalenaLPN, I totally know what you mean about others asking if you've heard anything. I went through that last application period. So, this time I didn't tell anyone that the application deadline has come and gone! Whew, what a difference. Haven't heard a thing from anyone and that does make the time go by faster!
I feel my mind slipping away....
All im doing is waiting and I feel like my brain wont be ready for all that work, lol.
I think im pretty much relaxed out. I have no classes or job to keep me busy. Any suggestions on what I should be doing with my time?
Thinking about cracking open the old anatomy book, lol.
JenPerezPSU didn't you apply to JU or UNF? Have you heard anything from them??Um, posting the days is just cruel!
Well I got in JU... the school... and was even given an academic scholarship BUT haven't even received an interview from the Nursing Program... and you don't get in without the interview and the subsequent Essay... From what i was told they are interviewing only THIS month... so unless I get an email or a call this next week, I will be assuming I didn't make the cut for the Accelerated BSN. They do however automatically roll your application over to the next application period...

From what i hear they will use whichever you want... BUT I have also been told that if you want them to use a specific course, you should highlight the classes you want them to use for point calculations b/c they may accidentally use the wrong one... That was told to me unofficially by former applicants.
