FCCJ Summer 2010 hopefuls...

Published

Is it too early to start a thread like this? LOL

I'll be finishing up my pre-requisites this fall, and then applying in the spring for the Summer 2010 session. I still need to study for the NAT and actually take the exam and take a CPR course. I'm considering getting my CNA and trying to find work in healthcare to get my foot in the door.

I am so nervous about the whole process, nervous about whether I should try to work and go to school, and especially nervous if this is something I can handle. I am afraid of all the responsibility.

Anyone else planning for next Summer? What is your process looking like, what are your thoughts/feelings?

:nurse:

I'm applying with 226.24 points. I feel pretty good about that number but I'm still nervous because of the limited seats. I guess it depends on how many apply and what their scores are... (not to state the obvious...DUH!)

wow, thats a great score. You're basically guaranteed a spot with that many points. cutoff for the last semester was in the mid 190s. I highly doubt that even with the limited seats that the cutoff would increase over 200. I hear the cutoff has never been over 200 before.

How many pts did you get from your grades/NAT?

You put my points to shame. So much that I'm not even about to post them :( However, with that said....GOOD JOB!!!!:yeah:

Um, I'd say 226.24 is almost a guaranteed in! Congrats to you!! Those are excellent points. I'm hoping the points don't go over 200 also, as without Micro there's almost no way I'll be over 200. Just hoping to get close!

Just took the NAT and I think I did a great job.

:D

Im so relieved.

So I only calculate the raw scores from the academic aptitude, reading comprehension, and natural science?

I got 72(98%) on academic aptitude

30(95%) on Reading comprehension

73(94%) on natural science

175/.64= 112pts?

With my 104 or 103 for grades, I forget, I should have like 215pts!!!!

Also, its actually 30 minutes to finish 90 for academic aptitude. I rushed through it and managed to calculate most of the questions and guess on the rest just in time.

I'm applying with 226.24 points.

I should have like 215pts!!!!

That's fantastic!!! Congratulations! :yeah:I'm applying with 223 points, and while that would normally get me into the program without any worries, I'm also an out-of-county resident (St. Johns) and only applied for N/W classes. So basically, my chances of getting in dwindle down a bit. But I'm still hopeful :D

Good luck to everyone applying. I hope we all make it!

Thanks

It'd be a shame if you didnt get in with that many points.

I havent mailed my application yet.

For those of you who did, did you use the official transcripts from FSCJ or did you just print one out from artemis?

I hear people highlight their grades, but the one I got from the office is sealed in an envelope and said not to be opened.

Just wondering if they'll accept just the transcript from online or an opened official transcript.

I dont wanna do any stupid mistakes.

Congrats to everyone with over 200 points!!! With those points you will definitely get in, IF you are one of the priority counties!!!! Sit back in relax you are in!!! LOL although I know that is easier said than done! For Spring 2010 we heard if we got into the program 6 weeks after the deadline. With spring break being this term I believe you guys should hear something by then, but who knows! You will come to find out that the nursing department is VERY disorganized lol Best of luck to you all!

The official transcript can be open!!! :) Open it up make sure all of your prereqs are there with the right grade. Highlight the classes especially if you want to use a higher math rather than college algebra. If you hand deliver it, don't worry they WILL give it to the right person. After the deadline they make a spreadsheet with all the applicants names. So if you mail in your application, you can call to verify if they received it, I would personally hand deliver it though!

Good luck to all applicants.

I dropped off my application today and while I'm fairly certain I'll be accepted to the program, I'm not certain I'll be accepted to Evenings & Weekends, which to me would be the same as not being accepted at all.

I know what the points cutoff for the program has been for the past several semesters, but I've never heard what the points cutoff is for Evenings and Weekends. Does anyone have any idea what kind of number it historically takes to guarantee a slot in that top 24?

Thanks for the FutureRNMom

I live in Duval so If nothing is wrong with my calculations I should be good.

Im so surprised how many points I ended up with. Before I took the NAT when I had my classes all done, I was worried the classes I didnt Ace would come back to haunt me in points. I had 4 A's, 4 B's, and 1 C for all the prereqs they accept. Thought I had 5 A's, but I figured out here that they dont count chem.

Didnt know if the 103pts from just the grades was good enough since I've heard how competitive the program.

The NAT is really the make it or break it for getting into the program.

With a really great NAT score, somebody could likely get over 200pts with straight B's for their prereqs.

So glad I got that over with :)

good luck to everybody applying.

If anybody has any questions on the NAT, I can probably help since it's still fresh on my mind.

Still cant get over at how hard the spelling section was, lol.

Thanks

You can print it from online.... I called and asked that before I sent mine and I did highlight my grades.

Thanks to everyone for the positive words. I just want to prepare myself because I know I have high points but if I don't get in for some reason I don't want to be too disappointed but if I do... I want to be really excited! I will definitely be planning on a celebration if I do...

Phread01,

I don't know if anyone would be able to answer that question for you. The "sorry you didn't make it" letters (at least, from what I've read on here and when speaking to people) do not give the cutoff for N/W. Just the cutoff for the program itself... I think. I heard that in the Spring term there were people who made it but weren't able to get N/W so they had to drop out.

Has anyone had any experience like this? Do they tell you if you get N/W on the acceptance letter? How does this work?
