Please help me...Do you think I'll get kicked out of nursing school?
Some of the most valuable lessons are the ones that are the most painful to learn. I've been on the receiving end of more of those lessons than I'll admit to here. But I bet you don't have problems with professionalism in class or in the workplace after this. And that's probably her entire point in making you sweat this out. Expect a stern talking-to. You earned it. Then let the emotion go and take the lesson with you.

is nursing right for me?
Poop is very different with gloves on. It might not be as bad as you expect. Having said that, it's still poop. It's my first week of nursing school and I figure that if I can clean up after my dog when he has diarrhea all over my carpets, I can wipe someone's butt. I hope.

Accelerated programs...expensive or cheap?
Why are you determined to pay out of state tuition? CA has nursing schools.

FSCJ Fall 2010 ACCEPTED
Check your FSCJ email. Monday degree audits are canceled. So all you N&W people who (like me) didn't know how you were going to get another day off from work won't have to now.

FSCJ Fall 2010 ACCEPTED
I'm NOT happy about this refund card. Not at all. It's one thing if they want to offer it as an option but another thing entirely to make me jump through hoops to get my refund. In order to have my refund sent to the account that I used to pay for my books and supplies, I have to register on this bank's website, register the card they sent (that I don't want and now have to destroy), navigate through their propaganda in order to choose NOT to open an account with them, fill out a direct deposit form, print it out and mail it to them. Then I get to wait for them to process my direct deposit request and THEN I get to wait for my money. It makes me angry that my school has tied me to this institution for several reasons, not the least of which is that this "bank" has created several artificial barriers to try and frustrate people into using their banking services. It reminds me of the last time I upgraded my phone and discovered that my "rebate" was coming in the form of a pre-paid card that I could only use to buy products and services from my carrier. I'm just flat sick of companies finding new ways to keep my money from me and the institutions I'm tied to acting in the interest of everyone BUT their customers.

FSCJ Fall 2010 ACCEPTED
My financial aid is all green except "Disbursement Status" which is red (presumably because I've not had anything disbursed yet) but when I drill down on the link, it shows no holds. Having said all of that, with green award status, I do show that I owe a full balance for classes that I registered for today. I expected it to take at least a full business day to process since the financial aid people said they wouldn't be caught up until Wednesday anyway. If I show a balance Thursday morning I'll just have to pay online.

FSCJ Fall 2010 ACCEPTED
So, did anyone else notice that our acceptance letter doesn't say on which campus the orientation is held?

FCCJ/FSCJ Fall 2010 Hopefuls
I don't know of a semester in which 222 wasn't high enough to make the nights/weekends cut. I was accepted last term with 240.3, which is what I'm applying with again for the fall.

FCCJ/FSCJ Fall 2010 Hopefuls
After having to decline my seat for the Summer term, I've re-applied for this Fall's Evenings & Weekends class with the same points that got me in last time. Hopefully those points are still good enough for that section. Good luck to everyone.

FCSJ fka FCCJ-Points you had when you applied for Nursing
You can get more than 120 points on the NAT. The max raw score is 210 points (90 for academic aptitude, 90 for natural sciences, 30 for reading comprehension). Multiply that by .64 to get your NAT points and you can get up to 134.4 points from the NAT if you get perfect scores in the three areas that count (spelling and the personality test aren't considered for your point total).

lwalk, to apply to the nursing program, you must have been accepted for admittance to fscj. that means your ap courses taken in high school should have already been submitted to the fscj admissions office and your transcripts screened. during the admissions process, your transcripts will be reviewed and your courses imported into your fscj transcript as course equivalencies. to apply for the nursing program, you submit only your fscj transcript to the address on the application packet. they won't accept any others. if it's not on your fscj transcript, as far as the nursing admissions screeners are concerned, you didn't take the course. but that's a moot point because you can't apply for the nursing program until you've been admitted to fscj in the first place, and that process ensures that you get credit for all of your previous coursework. the transcript screening process can take up to a month to complete, so i'd talk to an admissions advisor (for fscj, not for the nursing program) as soon as possible to start the process. good luck.

Anna, A&P I online is very time consuming. The worst part about the course is the tests. Because you are taking the course online, you'll be taking standardized tests and they are MUCH, MUCH more difficult than most instructor-generated exams. My best advice to you is to get every available point on your non-exam assignments (discussion boards, labs, and any other assignments you are given by your instructor) because you will need them to raise your overall grade. No one in my entire online class had an "A" average on their exams alone and only 2 had "B" averages on their exams. I only managed an "A" in the class because I had almost every other point available and those points compensated just enough to offset the "B" average from my exams. The final is the easiest exam if I recall. I actually got an A on that one, but not on any others. To prepare for the exams, I studied 5 nights a week at a minimum, read every page of every chapter and studied terms and study questions at the end of each chapter even though they weren't assigned. The upside is that I learned a LOT more in A&P I than I did in A&P II, which I took in a classroom. The downside is that I worked 10 times harder for the A in the online course than I did for the same grade in the classroom. And yes, I did all of this while working full time, but I wasn't taking any other courses during the A&P I course. Good Luck
