Is it too early to start a thread like this? LOL
I'll be finishing up my pre-requisites this fall, and then applying in the spring for the Summer 2010 session. I still need to study for the NAT and actually take the exam and take a CPR course. I'm considering getting my CNA and trying to find work in healthcare to get my foot in the door.
I am so nervous about the whole process, nervous about whether I should try to work and go to school, and especially nervous if this is something I can handle. I am afraid of all the responsibility.
Anyone else planning for next Summer? What is your process looking like, what are your thoughts/feelings?
Yeah, I agree, but I dont think that many will be applying again after getting higher points. Lets hope. Also, you can call to see if they get the application??
I sent mine 2 days ago and im worried if it'll safely get there.
who do we call and where do I get the number?
Yeah. You have to call the North campus' nursing department (766-6500) then press 3 then 1 and you will get Angie's voicemail... leave a message and she will call you back. HTH...
Thanks a lot
I was worrying about if it got there and If I filled everything up.
She called back and said she got it and she said everything was there.
So relieved.
Now that it's there, I dont really have anything to worry about except the cutoff increasing all the way to over 215 which is pretty unlikely.
I took the NAT this morning... YAHOO! I almost can't believe it and had to have more than one person help me calculate my points, but I got 115.2. I'll be applying with 213, PRAYING it is enough- I can't imagine the cutoff jumping that high. If I don't get in, I should for fall after completing Micro.
What a relief to finally be turning in the application!! Now for the waiting... I know we're all going to be stalking the mailman in March.
Whew, good to be back on here =)....It's been a while!
Had to share yet another story of frustation! I went to make an appointment to take my NAT again since I took it for the first time Feb. 1, 2009 and then again in June. I told the lady that I last took it on Feb 1 and that I needed to schedule it for that day and I would just walk my new scores across campus and do it all on the last day of the application deadline! (and you're gonna LOVE this!) She looks up at with me the most pitiful look and says "Oh sweetie, you took it on Feb 3!!!". And "you can't take it again until Feb 3"!!!! Seriously????? Could I have any worse luck????? I was so disappointed.....
So, I will be applying with a measly 194 points and praying for the best! Luckily I do not want Nights/weekends so Im keeping my fingers crossed.
Has anyone else been so close to the cutoff for your NAT and had the same situation?
jkvanso- What are the odds of that?? I am SO sorry! You're correct- you can take the NAT twice in 12 months, but with at least 90 days in between attempts, so since it was 2/1/09 and again in June, you're just 2 days short of being able to take it again. That is exactly the type of thing that would happen to me... it just stinks!! I hope the points will not increase and your 194 will get you in for summer! :)
I will be taking the NAT for the first time on Wednesday. I have been doing a little stressing over it. Ok maybe a LOT of stressing . My friend, who has not taken the test, thinks I'm making a bigger deal of it than it's worth. I just know my score will determine whether I have enough points to make it. I have 112 before taking it. I'm struggling with the math. I haven't done math in several years, so it all seems foreign to me. I'm usually not a basket case but I want to do well. I was only this nervous once and that was when I had to take the NCLEX for LPN. Sorry, just had to vent to people that understand the stress of trying to get in to nursing school.
You only have to wait 90 days in between test! If you took it in June u most def can take it right now!!!!!!!
You have to wait 90 days in between your attempts but you can only take the test twice in 12 months. So, 12 months from Feb 1 is Feb 1!!! UGH!! I'm just really, really, really, hoping that lots of people need nt/wk classes and will apply to the fall if they don't get in for summer. I know there are several gals that declined their spring seats because they need nt/wk classes and were going to reapply for summer '10.
Anyway, hoping 194 is enough to get me on the boat this semester but it will nail biting I'm sure. On a positive note, I will be able to take the NAT TWICE more for the fall 2010 semester, LOL!!!!!!
I am retaking the NAT this week and am curious.... Do they take the best scores from each area or do they take the most recent or best complete test? I am retaking it to hopefully improve my points. got 160... so 102.4 pts and just need 6.6 points to get over the 200 pt benchmark.... I had 2 C's a decade ago that keep haunting me. I miss the spring cut off by .6 pts... not 6 but .6 so if I don't improve my points I may pull out all my hair. :smackingf

I agree with your post however I do know some people who didn't make it into the Spring term so they were going to do some things (take another humanities, take the NAT again...) to get their scores higher. So just because they applied for the Spring term with under 193 doesn't neccessarily mean they will be re-applying with those same points. I would think they would be foolish to do so... (no offense to anyone) if it didn't get you in when they were accepting 144 I would think it wouldn't get you in when they are only accepting 90-something. Do you know what I mean? Also, there were a few who made it in but couldn't get into the night/weekend option so they may be re-applying as well.
HOWEVER, from what I've read on here there were people who didn't make it into the FSCJ Spring term and were going to be applying elsewhere. So, I guess it is up in the air. Also, like someone else said, I don't think the cutoff (for any term including summer which has always taken a smaller number of students) has ever been over 200, so that is encouraging. I think 200+ is a safe bet as well... (but I still am nervous)
I did get a phone call from Angie yesterday saying they did get my application so I relieved about that.
