FCCJ Spring 2008

I guess all of you are going thru the same feelings I am right now. I have turned in my application at FCCJ for the 2008 spring term and it is killing me. The more I read on here the more frightened I get. This is my first time applying and I am so nervous!!! Any words of advice to get me thru this???

I got my letter today! I'm in too!! (but I don't know if I'm going to go....that's another story....) :balloons:

I got a letter in the mail today of rejection- stating the cut off was 176 and I had 170....I HAD 190.24!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I called and they told me I'd have to attend an information session in 2 wks- BS!!! I went down there and FINALLY, after being SOO rude to me, they pulled my file and found the error- said they'd mail my packet!

So, I'm in!!!! BUt, how ridiculous!?!?! I was devastated!

Anyways, I look forward to meeting all you guys- will be glad to get my info in the mail:)

This might be a dumb question- I know the night program was available for Fall 2007, but I was just wondering if it was available for Spring 2008.... I think I vaguely remember reading something about it being available only once a year. Is this true? Also, how many seats are available for Spring term? And I've read that some of you have taken the NAT twice. In terms of points- will students be penalized for taking it more than once?

Okay.. as far as night program I don't know too much --I am a day student-- be prepared to get stuck with day program as night time positions are few and far between. The numbers for each term are changed each semester we let in about 144 students (day) for fall. I did take the NAT twice -- you have to wait liek 6 months in between taking it though.-- The study book didnt help me much.. but If you like study books go for it. You will not be penalized for taking it twice.. If I remember correctly I think they can pick and choose your highest scores between the two tests. -- ask before you leap though, I may be wrong!.. keep the questions comming!

Congratulations!... Welcome to the world of mass confusion and nursing where no one knows or can give you straight answers to much of anything! If you have questions feel free to ask around-- Enjoy your free time now ( you will not have much when you start) be sure to bring cash with you to orienatation and yes-- you really should shell out the money for that littman stethoscope ((its soo much better than the crappy ones in the book store) GUARD IT WITH YOUR LIFE!

Suggestion for nursing shopping: go to the uniform store at the regency mall tell them you are fccj nursing and youll get a discount!!!

i got my letter today!! i made it!! whoohoo!!:balloons:

the only thing that confuses me is the immunization packets and all the requirements to meet before deadline. it seems that there are so much to pay for! hehe.. i pray i can find time to submit all the requirements before the deadline and orientation!..

thanks for the tip about the uniform. il def check that out.

I got mine too!!! (216pts) You guys are right- there is a TON of expensive items to buy and background checks, etc.... I will worry about that later! For now - CELEBRATION TIME!

My friend had the same problem when she was admitted into the program in Fall '04. First they sent her a rejection letter and then the next day she got an acceptance letter. She almost had a heart attack. I'm sure there are more stories just like that! Anyway, congratulations!!!!! Btw, is the cut off really 176? Crrrrazy. That's the lowest I've heard of since forever ago.

no, you can't buy fccj nursing uniforms from life uniform in regency square. the tops have to be ordered from meridy's. i think you can get away with purchasing different pants, as long as they are white. i saw a girl with the flared out type scrub pants. it just really depends on your clinical instructor; i remember reading that some of them do military-style inspections!

anyway, for any other nursing related purchases, life uniform is good because of the discount!
