I guess all of you are going thru the same feelings I am right now. I have turned in my application at FCCJ for the 2008 spring term and it is killing me. The more I read on here the more frightened I get. This is my first time applying and I am so nervous!!! Any words of advice to get me thru this???
Oh my gosh! I have to work from 8am to 8pm for the remainder of the week. Do you happen to know when that date would be for reserving your spot???
It's this friday, the 26th. I would get in touch with the Nursing office quickly - it seems you have to get in there in person to get answers.
As far as financial aid goes, I took several classes many years ago...when I could have cared less about my grades. Returning to school many years later, I was initially denied financial aid due to a 67% rule or something like that. I appealed it (which was easy to do) and was then granted the financial aid I was initially denied (which was also easy to get). If you have extunating circumstances (like a B.S. degree vs. the 150% rule), go into the financial aid office and see about an appeal. They put me at ease and told me in advance there should probably be no issue with getting the appeal through and said that almost everyone does get the appeal though unless they've got a pretty rotten reason they can't explain away or something. As for the other person who hasn't gotten their letter yet, I think I'd go down there in person right away to see what's up. The deadline for acceptance if a slot was offered is up in a couple of days!
Good luck everyone!
The letter I got was in response to my appeal!! The only thing that is strange is there was one sentence bolded stating "Student must be accepted into the nursing program before financial aid is approved" But another sentence said I was denied and the decision was final??? I took a personal day off work and am heading onto campus shortly. Hopefully showing them my acceptance letter will change things. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
TDA88- I'd definitely call there. Did you read my earlier post? They sent me a denial letter last Friday, due to a computational mistake. Yesterday, I received my acceptance packet. I do think there's some issues in that Nursing office- and the staff were incredibly rude!!
The cut-off was 176.72, so if you had more points than that, you made it. (unless they screwed yours up like they did mine...)
I saw a post that mentioned an ins. company that would help pay for shots for nursing students.... do you have any more info on that?
Ok- I went in to FCCJ Deerwood and spoke to Carolyn and then Elaine in Financial Aid. Just my luck, the dean was not in and she's the only one who can override her own denials. So I gave them a copy of my acceptance letter and they said they will give it to the dean (Margo Martin) She is supposed to call me tomorrow.
At 2:15 I attended the financial aid class (1 hour) that is required now if you want to take out a loan. After class, I was speaking to the instructor and informed him of my situation. He said that it was ridiculous and he felt like maybe they didn't know I was accepted? Anyway- he told me to email him my info and he will go to bat for me. Lucky break! So...I am pressing on, did my drug screen today, fingerprinting Friday, etc... I don't want any more hiccups in this process! We'll see. I will keep everyone posted!
