FCCJ Spring 2008

Published

I guess all of you are going thru the same feelings I am right now. I have turned in my application at FCCJ for the 2008 spring term and it is killing me. The more I read on here the more frightened I get. This is my first time applying and I am so nervous!!! Any words of advice to get me thru this???

well hey, i wasn't complaining. i was just giving warning. still don't understand why a professor would feel "threatened" with compliments. :roll:chair:

I understand and understand your good intentions. Bravo, miss rochelle!

However, other members may see these names (being on the board)...and not be so kind to them. So, I do monitor the board in order to prevent any actual/potential flaming and/or libelous material being present. The way to do this is no names. It is to protect all...even everyone on this thread who posted.

Moving forward....continue discussion.

Well I just finished my very 1st week of nursing school, and now my question to any 2nd,3rd or 4th term students is Which books do we really need, and which other books can we get our refunds on?

lol, you'll need them all.

I'm in term 3, just had orientation today at Wolfson. I haven't sold back any books from Term 1. I still use Tabers, the NutriNotes will be used-the great and all knowing pharm teachers like to use it periodically and the RN Notes are useful in Term 2/Term 4 Adult Health. The only book I have that I would love to get rid of is the old concepts book, but the store won't buy it back.

Is there a specific book you think you don't need?

I did not use the RNotes or Nutrinotes at all durring 1st term. Nor did my now term 2 professors ask us to purchase either book- so if youre looking to return something return those and only consider rebuying later if your course in another term requires it or if you really think you need it. I also did not find that I used the labs/tests book at all.. infact it sits in my office closet and collects dust (along with the med term and dosage calc books I used 2 times but just know they are going to use sometime again so I dont dare to sell those back).. but seriously ask your prof. about if they really think you will need it RIGHT NOW for term 1 before returning that one> they may be more "details" oriented than my prof. was.

Overall- Return the nutri and rnotes and use that money toward investing in a littman steth that has a bell and diaphragm(remember extra ear pieces and ID tag for it!!) and an ID Badge holder- they make a world of difference -- for your other nursing needs I reccommend you to seek out the uniforn store at regency mall they have always been more tha helpful and they give a discount to fccj students!

I thought that I wouldn't need Critical Thinking for Nurses b/c it is not listed at all on any class syllabus that our instructors have given us. Also, did you all have to use the iClicker throughout the entire nursing terms or is this something new that the instructors are coming up with.

Critical Thinking could be the HESI book, which you don't need for term 1, but you'll need for all the other semesters. THe HESI is a test that is done on the computer, i.e. questions generated from a national database as opposed to our isntructors. You need to look thru it periodically leading up to the test-if its what I think its for.

Dang I-clicker, yes you'll need it in Term 2....

i heard that they are making 1st term students take the HESI. also, they may or may not have implemented iClickers for 1st term.

please, please, please -- clarify with your instructors for current information, as things have probably changed!

p.s. i think the iClicker is pretty neat, actually... keeps me awake during 4 hour long lectures :p

ABSOLUTELY....admin likes to change things all the time to keep everyone on their toes.

If you don't have scholarships to pay for your books, it will cost about $1000 for your first semester alone.

Killer in the butt, yes... But you'll get that money back once you start working.

Congrats to all that got in! I'm about to start in 3 days. YIKES.
