Published

I guess all of you are going thru the same feelings I am right now. I have turned in my application at FCCJ for the 2008 spring term and it is killing me. The more I read on here the more frightened I get. This is my first time applying and I am so nervous!!! Any words of advice to get me thru this???

Hawkfdc, here's to you...

Rochelle wasn't kidding....

Thanks guys, there's been a few thousand ahead of us, we just have to remember that they made it, so can we.

That will be good to keep in mind....thanks for the encouragement and reminder.

Hello all.

I am sooo nervous! I am applying with 190 points for spring, and am very worried! I am currently enrolled in micro and sociology, so unfortunately, I don't have those extra points... I'm so stressed- I have 3 kids at home; ages 4, 1, and 6 wks. Luckily, my fiance works hard to take care of us so that I can go to school and be with the kids. But this is what I (we) have been working/sacrificing for, and if I don't make it in this term, I may have to consider other options... :(

I did hear it was a "lottery" as far as picking classes and times- if that's true, it kind of sucks to have to wait til the last minute to arrange plans/days for childcare! Do any of you know if that is true?

I think it is if you do the day track, but since the night track only has 24 people, it's pretty much set.

yes, very true as far as the day time program goes. they literally make you take a number out of a bucket. i had some crappy number but i was still able to get into a section with a friend.

that lottery stuff kinda stinks... especially if you have a son like me and will need to figure out childcare... does anyone know if you can trade with someone who might want what you have? :monkeydance:

Do you know how to go about getting a grant to pay for the childcare at FCCJ? thanks, Jen

I remember seeing something about a childcare grant in the "scholarship search" in Artemis. I think it was for $500, but I didn't read the details (ie, it can only be used at a specific campus).

I hope it can help you.

There's info about the daycare program in the financial aid office at the South campus. I was under the impression that it was a really good offer they had for students. Also, I happen to know that the Chappell center is a good one; I used to work at a different location of theirs years ago, and one of my teachers had her son going there currently (on campus), and they were both VERY happy with the program and care. (Chappell is the program offered at FCCJ.)
