FCCJ Spring 2008

Published

I guess all of you are going thru the same feelings I am right now. I have turned in my application at FCCJ for the 2008 spring term and it is killing me. The more I read on here the more frightened I get. This is my first time applying and I am so nervous!!! Any words of advice to get me thru this???

nights/weekends is offered two semesters per year, but it's never "set in stone" about which two it will be....it varies from year to year.

You may want to give them a call (assuming anyone even answers the phone or returns your call!) and ask about summer. another option is to contact cheryl james (nursing advisor) by email....i've had faster responses from her when i email. here is her address: [email protected]

Or, if you haven't yet handed in your application for Spring, maybe you can hand-deliver it and ask then.

Good luck.

I sent Cheryl James an email and she did confirm that there evening programs were going to be Spring and Summer 2008. I am glad you said something otherwise I would have assumed it was going to be Spring and Fall 2008. Thanks so much for you comments!!!

No problem. I'm glad it helped. :-)

I turned in my app this past week with 202 points. Does anyone have any clue what the cut off points tend to be for night/weekends? I saw Cheryl James when I turned in my app, and she said it would be 8 weeks from October 1!!! I thought it was more like 5 weeks though!!! I don't know why, but I don't actually feel so nervous waiting....maybe it's the part of this that feels like I'm begging to get into a slave labor boot camp program, but I guess I just know it's going to be a little bit until I find out, so I'm just kind of excited and content to wait until I get an acceptance letter for boot camp training.

Hi.

they always say that--8 weeks. But the folks I know got their letters in about 5....so 5 more weeks from today...let the madness begin!!! :D

slave labor boot camp program is exactly what it is...

well, more like a slave labor boot camp that doesn't know what it's doing (maybe it's just 1st semester that doesn't have it's kinks ironed out...)!!! and the catch is, you pay around $2k for it! crazy ain't it?

Hey there, Miss Rochelle! I know you're already in the program...how much do you study a night? Is the studying different than what the rest of us are accustomed to? Does it make sense to get any books/study guides ahead of time to study before we even begin? Good luck to you!

I've also applied for the spring 2008 class. I've been thinking about my scores and such. I have a 203... and I feel confident I suppose... should I? :) I'm hoping to get into the night and weekend classes so I can also work but I'm not sure that's such a good idea. I rather focus as much as I can on school especially considering I have my son too :) Does anyone know about the childcare program at fccj? Another issue is paying the bills and for everything I need for the program. Does anyone know about grants, scholarships, etc? Thanks and Good Luck to all!

:lol2: Now thats funny. I concur with Rochelle.

It doesn't really pay off to study ahead of the classes. YOu just have to jump in and go. As far as studying, you should stay up on your reading and do the study guides they give you. If you were an A/B student before expect to be a solid B student now. The tests are harder than what you experienced with your pre-reqs. And you'll be tested almost every week in term one.

I know a little about the childcare program (I have 2 kids). I know that it is offered on almost every campus except Deerwood, which is where they are having nights/weekends, and that they close at night (I want to say around 6pm).

As far as scholarships, when you log in to Artemis, the second choice from the bottom, in the right hand column, says, "Scholarship Search." You may want to start there.

Good luck and HTH.

Thanks, hawkfdc! How exciting to think that the tests are even harder!!! I can hardly wait!!! :stone: Are you in the day or night/weekend program?

Are you in the day or night/weekend program?

I'm so tired I'm not real sure....

I'm in Term 2 days. started the summer semester. Term 2 is broken into 2 classes, Adult Health and Psych. We went from finals on M,T,W,Tz, clinical evals on Friday, off Saturday, Sunday, dosage calc on Monday, back into the hospital on the following Tuesday.

But its over after next week (yah)
