FCCJ/FSCJ Fall 2010 Hopefuls

U.S.A. Florida

I know it is kind of early to start this thread but I thought maybe there were some others out there who are planning on applying for fccj/fscj fall 2010 RN program. Hope you will post on this thread!

JenPerezPSU, I'm registered to take Online Chem for Liberal Arts with FSCJ 5/10-8/1. This is another reason why I thought that I would be o.k. to go ahead and register for Fall as I would be in the middle of taking the course.

Anyone needing to take Micro take it with Dr. ***** at the Advanced Technical Center. He's amazing, an actual clinical microbiologist and the labs are incredible! :)

as stated in the terms of service:

while it is important to be able to network, everyone should be mindful of the following:

  1. it is a small world - when we narrow it down to a state and throw in some personal info, there is actually a pretty good chance someone may recognize you if you are not careful. your privacy is paramount to us.
  2. while allnurses.com is a wonderful place to vent (without excess personally identifiable details) it is not the place to express why ("x" specific person, place or program) is terrible. gripe away, but since we cannot permit allegations to be made about named entities, your care in not naming them is very much appreciated.
  3. please do not give out personal information about others. do not name names where anyone could identify the person in any facility including your nursing programs.

the best to all of you! thank you for your cooperation.

Hello to all hopeful and current FSCJ nursing students. My name is Danya and I am currently in the second semester of the nursing program at FSCJ. If anyone has any questions or concerns, I can do my best to answer them. I am at the end of my second semester and I chose to take AH1 first. I am currently in my psych rotation. It's a lot of fun. You see many mentally disturbed people. If anyone would like to email me, I can be reached at [email protected]. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hello I was wondering what is the schedule like for daytime at north campus because I live far I was wonder how many day a week do you have to attend north campus the first semster. Just a guess is ok because I am unsure because I live closer to dw but do not want to be at school at night.:uhoh3:

Im in the upcoming summer semester and the schedule has us going to North Campus 4 days a week in the first semester.

Monday for test and 3 of the other 4 days for classes.

Has anyone submitted their application for summer?? I have called the nurse administrator lady (I don't think we can say names??) lets call her Mrs. J, to ask her if the transcript has to bee sealed from FCCJ or if I can just print one out from my FCCJ account at home. Does anyone have the answer?

Thanks

Laura

No they don't need to be "official" transcripts since they have access to your grades anyway. I would however suggest that you highlight the classes you want them to use, especially if you took both statistics and college algebra... highlight the higher of the 2 scores, just so you make sure you get the most possible points... 3 points (the difference between an A and B in a 3 credit course) can be a big deal...

I spoke them today and they confirmed that an printed transcript off connections would be fine. Also, she said that letters don't go out until the beginning of August. Not much time to plan!

The letters don't go out until August??

I saw an adviser at the north campus yesterday, she said we would know 4-6 weeks after June 1st. I really hope we don't have to wait until August!

I've heard some people say that chemistry doesn't count in the point system for grades, but the adviser said it is included. I'm not really sure, she sounded like she didn't really know.

I go to UNF right now, and am applying to both UNF and FSCJ nursing schools. My prerequisite GPA is 3.6, but at UNF that's not really considered that great. Plus there are only 48 spots at UNF, so I'm hoping I have a better chance at FSCJ.

How did you guys study for the nat?

Chemistry is required but doesn't count towards your points... Unless that changed for THIS coming semester. I am accepted for summer term and they did NOT include Chemistry in my points.

As for the NAT. It's not terribly difficult. I think I mentioned this on another thread (possibly Summer 2010 thread) that I did best on my first attempt which happened to be directly after I took my first Microbiology exam. I'm told there is a book in the bookstore but honestly you'd be spending too much if you spent more than a couple bucks on it. if you did well in the pre-req classes (which 3.6 GPA sounds good to me), and you remember even 1/4 of the science from those classes, you "should" do well on this test. When I studied the first time, I used some files I found online by googling PSB NAT. There were sample questions and answers online but honestly I don't feel like it helped with specific questions but gives you a good idea of the format.

Hope that helps.

i was told that if you take the nat twice they will use the best score from each section of either test. so if i did well on the reading from the first time and better on the academic aptitude and the science from the second time. they will combine those scores for my total nat points. does anyone know if this is correct?
