FCCJ Fall 2008

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hello all! Just thought I'd start a thread for all of those folks that have submitted, or are getting ready to submit, their applications for FCCJ's Fall '08 term.

I will be submitting my application in a few weeks, when this Spring term ends. I have taken my NAT (twice), so I'm good to go there, but still need to get my CPR class done. I called several places & I'm waiting to hear back from them.

I look forward to chatting with & getting to know all of you, who will be doing the count-down with me... on getting our acceptance letters!!!

I know it helps to sound-board off each other & to lean on each other for support... especially with getting all the things done that we have to do!

Best of luck & success to all!!!

Okay so the deadline has passed and I am ready for my acceptance letter. I am also applying for fall 08. Navywifeim and I had the same a&p 1 and 2 and the same Micro. Congradulations to all who got in and good luck to all applying. I am nervous and excited and anxious. I just hope I don't explode.

Thanks for all the great info. It helps to ease my mind about expectations.

you found me I didn't mean to thank you. I really should be in bed. I am sick all this damn hurry up and waiting I seem to do though! See you at orientation.

Okay......soooo..I also have a few questions:

(1) Is 203 points good?

(2) If I get in...what all do i have to have done before orientation??

(3) What are the hours for day classes/ clinicals?

And last but not least...work!!! Is everyone else working during the program???

Whew!! I think I have all the emotions rolled up in one. I'm excited, anxious, scared, nervous, and etc. I think waiting for everything to happen is the worst!!! We should have a countdown. lol

hi,

i'm applying along with you for the fall. but i've been around the board a little and can answer some of your questions :)

1. 203 is great. the cut off is usually in the 180's.

2. from what i've been hearing...physicals, and immunizations (titers) have to be completed by orientation. they sum it all up in the acceptance packet. all i know is that i am saving up for all of this...it seems we might have to come out of pocket for these things if they are not covered by your personal physician.

Thanks!! I hope that will be good enough. I decided to wait until after my AA to apply and took the NAT twice. I guess everything happens in its own time.

The out of pocket money on all of this is quite stressful. I'm hoping insurance will cover the physicals and etc if we are able to go to our own doctor. Otherwise that will not be fun.

Money for school (mainly books) on the other hand is a different story...geez:eek:..lol

Thank you soooo much for your help!!!

Is this your first time applying as well??

Specializes in Intensive Care Unit.

203 is plenty enough points to get in. I've been hearing the 190s is the cutoff, but I was advised to not go along with that. It depends on the amount of points that the applicants have. I'm sure you know that.

The schedules are posted for the Spring and Summer Semesters at North Campus. I took a glance at them and it definitely scared me. I remember seeing a 7 to 7 on one of the days. It's 4 semesters of hard work, but it's also 4 semesters that you'll look back on in the future.

The wait is interesting, to say the least. =D

Whew!!! That is most def good to know. It would be nice to see the schedules, but I don't want to make an extra trip I don't have to make. I'm sure the 7 to 7 was a clinical day. We might as well get used to it. Most nurses work 12 hour shifts. We'll just consider it preparation!! lol

In all honesty I can't wait. I thrive off being busy and having tooo much on my plate. I'm just working right now and I don't know what to do with myself. lol. Although its nice to finally have the opportunity to spend time w/ friends and loved ones.

For the most part I'm ready!!! And your def right the wait is very interesting. I never knew I could be sooo impatient or anxious.

I was thinking, once people get their acceptance letters, we should have a pre-orientation get together. So we can start getting to know one another. It would be very helpful and of course fun.

The 7-7 shifts are for role transformation and that is not until 4th term...first term we do not go to clinicals until week 8 and we only go 7-3, one day a week (it takes the place of our techniques class). Prepare to go four days a week for 1st semester and you have to have 15 extra lab hours practicing your basic skills for techniques so you will have to stay late and come early and come on days off to get those hours...

no problem :loveya:. you will find that most of the members on here are VERY helpful and caring when it comes to questions. i love this forum more than any i've been on (which have only been for hair & my blackberry :specs:)

yes!! this is my first time applying also. i am sooooo excited. i don't have as many points as some of the other applicants (186). but, i am currently taking micro and i am confident that if i don't get in for the fall, my micro will give me enough points for the spring ;)

Oh okay..that makes sense that you would have those hours your last semester. Yeah..I figured we would be at school alot the first semester. Its good you have to have all the hours. I want to know how to do everything well before I practice on a patient in clinicals. Thanks sooo much!! This has been very helpful.
