FCCJ Fall 2008

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hello all! Just thought I'd start a thread for all of those folks that have submitted, or are getting ready to submit, their applications for FCCJ's Fall '08 term.

I will be submitting my application in a few weeks, when this Spring term ends. I have taken my NAT (twice), so I'm good to go there, but still need to get my CPR class done. I called several places & I'm waiting to hear back from them.

I look forward to chatting with & getting to know all of you, who will be doing the count-down with me... on getting our acceptance letters!!!

I know it helps to sound-board off each other & to lean on each other for support... especially with getting all the things done that we have to do!

Best of luck & success to all!!!

no problem :loveya:. you will find that most of the members on here are VERY helpful and caring when it comes to questions. i love this forum more than any i've been on (which have only been for hair & my blackberry :specs:)

yes!! this is my first time applying also. i am sooooo excited. i don't have as many points as some of the other applicants (186). but, i am currently taking micro and i am confident that if i don't get in for the fall, my micro will give me enough points for the spring ;)

This site is very helpful. I'm definitely glad I found it. It can also be quite addicting. lol

Congrats on applying. You should get in. You have alot of points for not having Micro and if they notice that then hopefully you will get in. Goood Luck!!!! I can't wait until we find out..atleast its one less day. lol..I don't think I've ever wished a school break away before. :chuckle

I think that is a great idea for us to get together prior to orientation, once we've gotten our acceptence letters, of course!

As for you Bossladii, you have to think positive... your points are good & I think you'll get in, but you've got to believe it!!! You've worked hard and long, so now you've got to put more faith in yourself!!! Your thoughts become things, so think about how you want the outcome to be...:saint:

Okay, I'm done being the mother-hen for now. I'm so excited for us all & know that only good things are coming our way. I just wish those letters would hurry up.

I completely agree!!!!! Positive thinking goes a long way. Hang in there everyone. Hopefully just a few more weeks (like 3 or 4). :D

The 7-7 shifts are for role transformation and that is not until 4th term...first term we do not go to clinicals until week 8 and we only go 7-3, one day a week (it takes the place of our techniques class). Prepare to go four days a week for 1st semester and you have to have 15 extra lab hours practicing your basic skills for techniques so you will have to stay late and come early and come on days off to get those hours...

yep, you are correct about first term clinicals not starting until week 8. i'm not sure how they are making first termers do care plans these days, but we had to pick up pt information the day before clinicals and then work on care plans that night.

second term, you go twice a week from 7-3. the day before first day of clinicals, you pick up pt. information and do half of your care plan. the night before the second day of clinicals, you formulate nursing diagnoses.

there ARE 12 hr shifts for third term!!! i believe you have the choice of doing one 12 hr a week, or two eight hours a week. i have friends in OB and peds doing 12 hr shifts.

hey, i got in with only 186... this was without sociology. :)

Has anyone worked full time and attended the day program? I am trying to figure out a way that I would be able to, but I am worried that I won't have enough time to study. I can't wait to get that acceptance letter so I can take a deep breath.:p I hope to meet you all soon at orientation.

Hey..I'm in the same boat as you. I will also attempt to work while doing day time nursing school. I think its going to be something that we figure out when the time comes. You really need to make sure you have a flexible work schedule. I dread trying to figure out my hours for work with this program, but it is possible. Goood luck and can't wait to meet you too!! :D

Hey everyone,

bossladii-Like everyone else said, I am sure you will be fine!!;) Plus this fall the are accepted 168 which is the most compared with spring and summer.

I am so ready to do this!!:D I am also just working right now. I even picked up a second (summer) job. I am trying to save as much money as possible. I orignally planned to do nights. Since I am doing days now I have to have some money saved just incase my job won't be able to work with me.

Molse001-You are right!!! This website is truly very helpful and like you said addicting.

Kjl221-I too think it would be cool to have a "pre-orientation":yeah:

Welcome amberb!!!

I can't wait for that letter too. The wait has got to be the worst part of all this:banghead:.

As for the working thing. From reading some of the other posts people still have full-time jobs and do very well in the program. I for one will probably still have to work full time (got to pay those bills) but I am trying to save up as much money as I can just in case: 1. if my job can't be flexible or 2. if I can't handle working as much. Do you have a back-up plan if you can't work full-time. Have you looked into grants or loans? Worksource could be an option too. And if you still have no choice, working full time and studying might be hardwork but I am sure you can do it! Good Luck!

i love you guys. you are amazingly uplifting. i guess i just didn't want to get too happy, too soon. But I feel confident that this is going to turn out wonderfully.

Awwww..your tooo sweet. Of course your gonna get in and do an amazing job!! I'm trying not to get my hopes up either, I applied to UNF's program and got denied. I was upset for a day and then was like its time for "Plan B". I want this more than anything and believe that everything will work out. Everyone goes through disappointments, but when you put your heart and soul into something..... it will happen. You just have to believe!! lol..it sounds soo korny..but its soooo true.
