FCCJ Fall 2008

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hello all! Just thought I'd start a thread for all of those folks that have submitted, or are getting ready to submit, their applications for FCCJ's Fall '08 term.

I will be submitting my application in a few weeks, when this Spring term ends. I have taken my NAT (twice), so I'm good to go there, but still need to get my CPR class done. I called several places & I'm waiting to hear back from them.

I look forward to chatting with & getting to know all of you, who will be doing the count-down with me... on getting our acceptance letters!!!

I know it helps to sound-board off each other & to lean on each other for support... especially with getting all the things done that we have to do!

Best of luck & success to all!!!

Bossladii,

Which micro class are you taking? No names (not allowed) but rather what is the day, time, when does it start, etc?

My micro starts June 2nd @ Kent... as far as your points go (I don't know what they are) but you should definetly still apply at FCCJ because the cut-off changes each semester based on the points of those applying.

Someone asked me about the NAT books I got, and they are:

Cliffs Test Prep:

Nursing School Entrance Exam

and

Arco:

Nursing School and Allied Health Entrance Exams

You can purchase them at Books-a-million. I prefered the Cliffs Test Prep over the Arco, personally.

Miss Whitney,

I hope we get our letters as quickly as you did, that would be awesome to know sooner!!

Hope this helps & good luck everybody!!!:D

they told us in orientation that if someone was to drop before classes start or not have all the required info that the next person in line who didn't get in would get a phone call...

Thanks!! I'm hoping I get in for the fall while enrolled in Micro...but if I don't I should be a definite admission in the Spring 09 with 200 pts. (Hoping for an A in Micro)

I'm taking a class that started May 5th @ the Advanced Tech Center. It's 2 days a week, starts @ 11am. Pretty nice!! I like it.

I'm in the day track.

I have 180.98 points! I dont know if I am going to get in fall 2008. I applied Summer and didnt get in.. the cut off was in the 190's which was pretty high... so many people applying had wonderful grades... and lots of points! I dont know what to expect for Fall.. I know they accept more people in the Fall I heard. So I was just wondering what everyone else had (point-wise) Ive taken the NAT 2 X's and my score was much better the 2nd time. I am turning in my application tomorrow!! I just hope I make it in. Ive worked really hard!! :heartbeat

So I dropped off my application today and they told me the same o' you will find out by the end of July. I then asked when the orientation would be as I plan on going up to Michigan for most of the summer and plan on coming back pretty much in time to go to it. So they said it would probably be in July, so like the end right? I really don't want to come back before the last week of July as I need to leave my oldest 2 in Atlanta to go to a wedding (that is the first week of August in Texas) their grandpa is taking them and I don't want to leave them there longer than I have to. I am just worried that I will find out like 3 days before and have to rush back down here.

Any past nursing students have any insight to about when I could expect this orientation to happen.

:uhoh3:

You have to do a ton of stuff before Orientation...and I would expect you to find out if you got in probably like June 20-July 1. And in your letter they will tell you when orientation is and when you have to get everything in by.

What all do we have to do? I have had my titers drawn as well as my physical done. I know I have to do fingerprinting. Is there anything else I need to do? I am trying to get everything done before heading to Michigan.

hmm... i guess i will butt into this post. :p

i may be joining you guys come second semester psych nursing. i started in fall 2007, but dropped out due to moving to washington. i hope to re-enter spring 2009.

good luck with everything, guys. if you have any questions about first semester, feel free to ask me :)

That really stinks that you had to drop out Miss Rochelle. I remember chatting with you & reading some of your other posts before & when you started the program & I know how excited you were.

Will they let you pick-up where you left off?

I thought I would chime in here momentarily.... I'm currently in my first semester at FCCJ and doing the nights and weekends. Our classes are as follows: Testing Mondays 6-8, Health Assessment Tuesdays 6-9, Concepts Thursdays 6-9, Techniques Staurdays 7:30-about 3, and we have pharmacology online. Now our concepts class is a hybrid class so it doesn't meet every thurdsday but the weeks we don't meet we have an assignment online. Also when we start clinicals in the hospitals we will have to get there at 6:30 am on saturdays.

Navywifeim I'm not sure you can do much more before being accepted because in the packet they send you there are specific instructions and forms that need to be used. Also there are specific places to get some of these things done to make sure the results get back to the nursing depatrment.

I can tell you that the points requirement was probably so high for our class because we have a lot of Navy Corpsmen(sp) and they get special consideration as far as points go. And most of us have experience in healthcare.

And one word of advice.... start saving your money. You're looking at spending about $1200, give or take, prior to the start of the program with books and everything.
