FCCJ Fall 2008

Published

Hello all! Just thought I'd start a thread for all of those folks that have submitted, or are getting ready to submit, their applications for FCCJ's Fall '08 term.

I will be submitting my application in a few weeks, when this Spring term ends. I have taken my NAT (twice), so I'm good to go there, but still need to get my CPR class done. I called several places & I'm waiting to hear back from them.

I look forward to chatting with & getting to know all of you, who will be doing the count-down with me... on getting our acceptance letters!!!

I know it helps to sound-board off each other & to lean on each other for support... especially with getting all the things done that we have to do!

Best of luck & success to all!!!

OMG!!! Why did I put 12? I'm in section 13...But, I know I will still see you tomorrow :) Hopefully I will be able to switch. I wanted 12.

Okay I am not sure if we are allowed to ask this on here but if we are not I am sorry. Can anyone elaborate on how tests are? I am in a school right now and I have freinds that tell me that for their tests they have to study 12-15 chapters. Is this how the tests for FCCJ are? --Thanks!

I must admit there is A LOT of reading. I think the most we've had to read for a test could have been around 8 or more chapters. But, you are guided somewhat on what information is pertinent for the test.

I hope this helps :D

So....I haven't posted on here in a very long time. But just wanted to give everyone an update. In Term 2 Adult Health 1 and LOVING it!!!!!!!!! Its alot different from first term. We focus in on the disease processes in class and clinicals try to get all the experience we can get. I highly recommend Orange Park hospital for clinicals. It has been such a great experience. I have soooo far become quite efficient with shots, hung countless IV meds, passed a whole bunch of meds, removed an NG tube, and wound care. Instead of being with one patient we follow a nurse and do everything with/ for her. Its exciting. If anyone is in Psych/ Leadership get ready for a little intensity though. We have two 8 hour clinicals back to back each week. You keep very busy, but you learn soooo much and its been a good experience so far:) Hope all is well with everyone!!!!

Thanks Meg! It seems pretty laid back in psych/leadership....compared to Term I. I just so happen to have Orange Park for my Adult Health I. I have just one question...

Did clinicals start on week one?

Aww I had mine at Orange Park....I loved most of the nurses on the floor we were one! =) Clinicals do start week one, bossladii. Do you have Bridges? Enjoy your time off while in Psych and leadership. I remember being exhausted after a week in AH1. Mondays pick up careplan info and write it up, Tuesday clinical, Tuesday night finish up careplan, Wednesday clinical and finish up the little odds and ends on your careplan, Wednesday night get ready for class on Thursday, Thursday class and then Sunday study for tests.

Is there anyone in the 2008 doing evenings and weekends that could give me a heads up on what to expect?

Thanks!!

Hey clinicals do start on week one. Its really not that bad. We don't have to go up there the day before and get care plan stuff. We get while we are there on Saturday, do a care plan saturday, and then bring it back sunday during clinical. Most of the nursing staff is amazing. Just going to warn you though....week one is the most stressful. You have a skills test, 6 chapters worth of information to study, and clinicals to endure before your first test on monday. Its alot, but after week one, its smooth sailing:) Good luck and your welcome.

Bridges is amazing!!!!!!!!! Absolutely love her:) Half of the battle in term 2 is the nursing instructor you get. And luckily I got 2 really good ones.

I am currently doing classes on Tuesday night and clinicals Saturday and Sunday. They only offered one in Term 2 and suprisingly not alot of ppl wanted ours. But I love the schedule and everything about it. Hope this helps you some. Good Luck!!!

Hi, I am currently in term 1. For our techniques class we have to take a HESI exam worth 100 points. Can anyone give me any information on it? I am not sure what to expect, is there a study guide, and is it difficult? Thanks for your help.
