FCCJ Fall 2008

Published

Hello all! Just thought I'd start a thread for all of those folks that have submitted, or are getting ready to submit, their applications for FCCJ's Fall '08 term.

I will be submitting my application in a few weeks, when this Spring term ends. I have taken my NAT (twice), so I'm good to go there, but still need to get my CPR class done. I called several places & I'm waiting to hear back from them.

I look forward to chatting with & getting to know all of you, who will be doing the count-down with me... on getting our acceptance letters!!!

I know it helps to sound-board off each other & to lean on each other for support... especially with getting all the things done that we have to do!

Best of luck & success to all!!!

Yeah that does sound like a great idea. I'm game.

Well, I'll PM you guys my fccj email. I should be getting Unit 1 done tonight sometime (probably late, lol). I'll send it to you guys once it is done. My friend is getting Unit 2 done. So if one of you chooses Unit 3 and the other Unit 4, then we just need two more people.

You are referring to the techniques final I presume...

Yeah, but it is sort of last minute. I want to do this with every test possible. I have already sent out a bunch of stuff that people have sent me. If anyone wants the stuff I have, I'll send it to ya if you PM me your email.

hey everyone! I found two books from one of my friends that just graduated that said they would help with remembering alot of this info. "Nursing made insanely easy" has alot of the basics, ie. a pneumonic (sp) that helps you remember all 12 cranial nerves and what to use to test them. The other book is "Pharmacology made insanely easy". I'm going to get that one today, they have it at the North campus bookstore. Not sure if they have the nursing one there b/c I got that one as a hand-me-down. Have a great weekend getting ready for pharm everybody!

You tube rocks!

Proof that nursing school makes you crazy:

The song I think you were talking about:

Hello everyone I just had to share with you guys my clinical day this week. I put in my first foley and my first IV on real people. I was so nervous I was shaking and I almost started crying. It is kinda funny how nervous I was looking back on it. Whew, I am so glad my first are over. :nurse:

Wow, congrats on getting through that stuff! How were the patients?

Dang! lol I have done injections (IM and subq), an IV push, plenty of dressing changes, and meds by feeding tube and I think that is it. Congrats on getting to do that stuff cuz I know most of my friends that are with me in second term (including me) have yet to do an IV or a foley. I am most scared about the NG tube lol.

Wow, congrats on getting through that stuff! How were the patients?

The patient I was putting the foley in was moaning in pain from a surgery and tears were falling every time I touched her leg to position it. I think that is what overwhelmed me so much. The IV patient had very little feeling in the arm I was putting the IV in so it worked out. Keep me posted on your adventures in clinicals.

Aw, poor lady. What experience, though! Where are your clinicals? Mine is at Baptist Downtown and it's a medsurg floor. We start tomorrow.

Mine are at Memorial. Let me know how your first day goes!
