Where do you like to go in Ohio?
Any recommendations for fun places?
Has anyone been to Put-in-Bay by Lake Erie?
Marie;)
We go to Lake Hope every year in McArthur, and headed over to Hocking Hills this year. Loved it.
Where is Wilmot? I am looking for a fall getaway to see the changing colors.
Amy, are you talking about the Apple fest at Hidden Valley Fruit Farm or the one in Lebanon? My fav was always the Cider Fest, but I was really disappointed last year. I think we've decided we like Bonnybrook farm in Centerville better.
Btw, the Greek Fest was last weekend.
I lived in Texas for 5 years with dh. We've been back here for 3 years now, and I'm so glad we came back. It's so much nicer here.
Yeah, I missed the Greek Fest. I usually try to make it to that one. I just love the food there! YUM! :)
The Apple Festival I'm thinking of is the one at Allwood Farm, right outside of Vandalia & Englewood. They've got all the apple stuff...cider, applebutter, pies, etc. I love it! We go every year & buy some freshly made apple butter. Mmmm. It's scheduled for the last weekend in September - I just found out yesterday.
I lived in CA for 3 years...been back to OH for a little over 2 years now. I agree...it is SOOOO much nicer here. I guess you can't take the Buckeye out of a person.
Wilmot is right on the edge of Stark county, almost in Holmes county. Holmes county, especially gorgeous in the fall, also has many Amish restaurants and stores..there are places you can take tours of working Amish farms. You used to be able to take steam engine rides, but I heard just recently that they have had to shut that down because insurance became too expensive.
Here in Wayne county, we like to go to Ramseyer Farms to do the corn mazes.
The Neil Armstrong Museum in Wapakonetta is 25 miles south of Lima off I-75. Took the kids there twice and it is a really nice place to visit. Shaped like the moon! very cool....
I have family that moved to California and all they do is moan and groan when I tell them about all the festival's, The IX Christmas Connection in November(Cleveland), Amish Country (Holmes County) etc..they can keep the earthquakes..I am a proud to be a Buckeye!
I love Ohio! I lived in Cinci with my mom when I was a kid, and she continued to live there up until her death a year ago. Cinci is the most beautiful city I've ever been/lived in. Between the beautiful parks, the river, the Zoo, King's Island (my kids personal favorite!), the Conservatory - the whole package just makes it great. We were visiting a couple years ago when they had all of the decorated pigs around the city. One of my mom's friends actually decorated 2 of them.
I now own my mom's business which is still in Cinci, so I still get to visit occasionally. We're big baseball fans (obviously with my avatar!) and I really want to get out there when I can take the kids to a Reds game. The new ballpark is beautiful.
I even cherish an "old" Cinci Bengals member, Corey Dillon (though I know he ticked off a few residents before his departure, but I must say, he's doing great for the Pats! LOL).
I really wouldn't mind living back in Cinci after I get my RN. I've only driven through other parts of the state, but hear they are equally as wonderful also. :)
Wow, what a great collection of ideas and view points. I love this website for this. People from all over Ohio, adding their views and experiences.
I agree, that Amish country is a great visit, anytime of the year, but I like spring and fall. Take the Dover exit off I-77, and head west towards Sugarcreek, and beyond. I love the buffetts in Sugarcreek and Walnut Creek.
Lots to see, eat and shop. Drive carefully, lots of horse and buggies.
When my girls were little, we went to a lot of festivals around the state.
We really liked the Maple Syrup festivals around Mansfield.
We also went every year to Seaworld near Aurora, till it left.
Cedar Point, Kings Island are also great family spots.
I like old steam engines, and try to see them when possible. They are here and there all over.
The Paul Bunyon Festival In Hocking Hills (?) they say is really fun in the fall.
Has anyone been to Bob Evans Farms, I've heard that is neat too.
Shopping in Columbus, is there other areas besides Easton, that is easy for out-of-towners to get to??
Mohican State Park is a great place for hiking Canoeing, camping Scenery is beautiful.
The Beach Water Park around Christmas is fun (Haven't been in the summer since I was a child)
Newport on the Levy (Although I am not sure if that is Ohio or Kentucky I am thinking Kentucky)
German town
Serpentine wall
Easton Mall was a lot of fun but to far to drive now a days (I used to live in Delaware Now I live way south)
I love Polaris Mall and Magic Mountain.
Up in Sandusky they have an indoor Waterpark which is supposed to be a lot of fun
Ohio has a lot to offer :)

Are you talking about Easton? If so, it's on the east side of Columbus off of I-270. It's very well marked. Can't miss it.
