Hi! I posted this on prenursing, but decided this would probably be the better place to post! What is your favorite wrist watch that you were for clinicals?
Thanks!

I love the Wenger Swiss Army/Military watches. (Ladies) They have a second hand, military time, the date, and are waterproof. The one I have even has the day of the week on it. It helps when working nightshift! The one I am wearing now I had for over 5 years. It just needs a battery periodically. They go for under $75.
I bought a men's Timex from Target, that has all of the above and the band is one of those metal stretchy ones so that I can wear it further up on my arm which leaves my wrist bare.
It's not pretty, but it was only $25 or so.
I have a couple cute fossil's that I wear otherwise....they have second hands, but I find them harder to read.
Peace,
Cathie

My favorite is my Red Sox watch. It has a second hand, of course, but most importantly, it lets everyone know my team affiliation! LOL It's actually a great "ice breaker" if you will, especially when I'm at clinicals, and can't wear my Red Sox scrubs. I've actually had patients tell me that they're glad they know my team alliance, because they don't want a Yankee fan working on them! LOL (I think only a Yankee or Red Sox fan could understand that. It's one of the best rivalrys in all of sports. )

And I changed the band to a stretchy metal one so that I can push it way up my arm if I need to.

This is the watch that I bought for my clinicals and I love it. http://www.allheart.com/nm866451.html Yes, it's a little pricey, but it's just so darn cute. There's something about having to dress like everbody else that drives me crazy. Our dress code is pretty strict. All white... not even a little stripe on your white shoes is allowed.
How funny, I just bought the same watch!!! During my clinicas, everybody kept asking me where I bought it. I love my watch, and I love the fact that it is not leather, I can just wash it when it gets dirty. It is just so cute.

I'm also interested in the lapel watch. I hate it when water gets under my watch band, and since nurses wash their hands a bazillion times a day...I need a different way to tell time :)

Tried and true Timex. Inexpensive and takes a licking but keeps on ticking.
my preference is the timex ironman series (i also use it for working out). it's easy to keep clean, too.

I use a man's watch. The face is bigger and easier to see. That way I can glance over it while watching a chest rise counting respirations and still see keep up with the seconds. It has a metal stretchy band which makes it easy to slide up my arm. I bought it for about $9 at Wal-Mart. It may not be "cute" but it is very functional and that is what I was looking for.

Are watches not considered to be an infection hazard in the US?
Here in the Netherlands they are and we're even forbidden to wear watches while at work.
I found them here: http://www.scrubsgallery.com/shopexd.asp?id=223
The only thing I don't like about them is no side pockets, but I deal with it. My patients LOVE them, and it's a good ice-breaker, especially for those "grumpy old men" patients who love talking about the Red Sox of "old". :)

I just bought a cheap one at Wal-Mart....big #'s...easy to see. It has the stretchy band, and works great for me.
