Favorite Mnemonics / Memory Tricks

Published

Hi there...I was thinking, as I was studying for NCLEX, how many mneumonics and other memory tricks we use. And I thought it would be good to have a thread where people could post what they use, and others could find them and use them. :)

I see there's a thread for acronyms, but I'm talking about mneumonics.

I'll start off :)

Immediate tx of MI, think MONA:

D Digoxin

F Fluids- decrease

A Afterload - decrease

S Sodium - decrease

Doesn't APEMAN end with Apical?

Doesn't APEMAN end with Apical?

Not really sure how you're looking at it? The two pneumonics (APE To Man and All People Enjoy Time Magazine) have the same order:

A: Aortic

P: Pulmonic

E: Erb's Point

T: Tricuspid

M: Mitral

The apical pulse isn't part of that equation, so maybe that's your confusion?
