Farmingdale State College

Published

Hi guys. I'm new to posting but I've been a long time lurker. I just wanted to know if anyone is in or is planning to attend Farmingdale State College. I want to go there but I want to know some more information about it. What are the pre-reqs for the LPN program? What is the lowest composite score that they look at? All other schools tell you this but I can't find that info anywhere on Farmingdale's website. I'm currently studying for the exam (even though I have NO IDEA when the next PAX-PN test is being given in NY). I got a B in Psych and also a B is English. I have to re-take A&P1 in the Fall because I didn't do so well in it. I'm trying my hardest to get an A in it so that they'll at least consider me for the program. I'm sorry for the long post but I'm just panicking because I have no clue what I'm really doing lol. I'd love if anyone/everyone could help me out. What other pre-reqs do I need for the PN program? Is it really hard to get into? I'm pretty much freaking out about....EVERYTHING:banghead:. I just don't feel like I'm doing enough. Seriously, do you all think I have a good shot at getting in with the grades I stated above?:confused:

DELETE--> SORRY

Nitchell - What did you get on your NLN again if you dont mind me asking?

I called today they said I was still on the waiting list UGGGGHHHH I just want to know already!

i got a 95.....

i know what you mean, the waiting is the worst part!!

Yes, it was a separate letter in a regular envelope. I received it last Friday (April 2). It was a page on the orientation info, and another page to fill out and send back with payment.

FYI- I am talking about the Associates program only, I don't know anything about the B.S. program!!

Me :nurse:

I ended up calling to receive the information about the orientation, and the secretary told me that high school seniors will be having their orientation in the summer. My mistake :) But it's alright. At least I know now.

Thank you! :nurse:

No problem :)

Farmingdale is an awful school for Nursing. The program is very limited as far as staff, as far as admissions, as far as clinical sites, and future job placement. It's no worth it. LPN program this year accepted 35 people. RN Associates accepts 100, if even that....but receive about 900 and something odd applications. And Bachelor's RN is only open to High School seniors or RN's with an Associates. And if you think you can take the LPN program, then switch into the Associates...you have to gain 3 years minimum experience as an LPN to even apply.

Sometimes you have to take what you can get. I am more than happy to be going there for the A.S. program and hope to transfer to do my B.S. or perhaps do a distance learning program. I was made aware that the BSRN is only open to HS students which is why I am getting my A.S. As far as future job placement, most people are having trouble regardless of where they graduated from. I can't think that far ahead anyway. I am excited to actually ro get started.

I was accepted into Farmingdale's Nuring Program that starts in Sept. 2010. I hope that you also will be accepted. Don't feel too sad about being on the waiting list, because I spoke to a friend earlier who was also placed on the waiting list.... and guess what?

She says that she was told that people get called from the waiting list all the way up to the day class is supposed to begin. So that's some good news for you I hope. Well I am praying for you and hope that you get in, and hopefully we will be in class together.

Have a nice evening.:)

EXACTLY!!!!!!!!! I 'm with you on that one!!!!! I got accepted too and am more than happy to go. Thank God, I killed myself for my grades and the NLN!!! Congrats to you too!!!!!
