Hi guys. I'm new to posting but I've been a long time lurker. I just wanted to know if anyone is in or is planning to attend Farmingdale State College. I want to go there but I want to know some more information about it. What are the pre-reqs for the LPN program? What is the lowest composite score that they look at? All other schools tell you this but I can't find that info anywhere on Farmingdale's website. I'm currently studying for the exam (even though I have NO IDEA when the next PAX-PN test is being given in NY). I got a B in Psych and also a B is English. I have to re-take A&P1 in the Fall because I didn't do so well in it. I'm trying my hardest to get an A in it so that they'll at least consider me for the program. I'm sorry for the long post but I'm just panicking because I have no clue what I'm really doing lol. I'd love if anyone/everyone could help me out. What other pre-reqs do I need for the PN program? Is it really hard to get into? I'm pretty much freaking out about....EVERYTHING:banghead:. I just don't feel like I'm doing enough. Seriously, do you all think I have a good shot at getting in with the grades I stated above?

My best advice to you would be to, take the exam again in 6 months. you are familiar with the exam now and the type of questions they ask, so hopefully that will give you an advantage next time you take it. just review your stuff and study hard from now till the test again, and i bet you will do fine. also try using other books that focus on the NLN.
The way the admission process works is that once you get into the waiting list for the nursing program they already looked at you grades. the deciding factor will be the NLN test. They start at 99 and work their way down.
**hopefully this helped girl, and i wish you the best of luck. in the mean time while you wait to take the test again, you should take more prereq's.
Hi, I'm new here but I just wanted to let everyone know that the orientation is scheduled for Friday, April 30th. I just got my letter in the mail. I'm not sure what the exact time for the nursing part is because it just says the "combined orientation" for nursing students and new students is from 8:30am to 3:00pm.

Me too, I just got my mail!! I wish it was on Saturday b/c now I have to miss classes and work on Friday. Its all worth it though to become a . I am glad it is combined so we don't have to go in twice for orientation!
I have to miss a class too! I went to the general student orientation last year so I need to call and find out the time for the actual nursing orientation. Are you already enrolled in any classes for fall? The nursing department had a lock on the two classes we need, NUR 100 and NUR 108, but they unlocked NUR 100 for the bachelor students so if you have your alternate pin you'll be able to register for it :)
Got my rejection letter today....was not suprised. Now going to cry. This is like the 5th rejection letter i got from a school. I was in a nursing program until i received 2 C's (JUST SHY OF POINT SOMETHING MIND YOU) and got kicked out after just one semester. So I changed my major and will be graduating in May with a degree...now I am applying everywhere and no one seems to be accepting me. (Accelerated, Associates and 4 Year programs). Im not stupid b/c my gpa is a 3.0 and i have A n B's in all of my science prereq's I think that one semester of nursing school on my transcript is really scwering me over. ugghhh! i hate myself! I think I am going to give up on nursing. Maybe it is just not for me. Any advice? What schools will accept a nursing school reject?? Has this happened to anyone else and they have been accepted somewhere in New York state? Please ayudar me!!

No, I am transferring in. I check the fall class listing all the time (for some strange reason), and one day I saw that the NUR100 was starting to fill up and I got freaked out because I was told when I called to wait for our Nursing Orientation to sign up. When I saw that the NUR108 was still empty I figured out what you said, that the BS prog also has to sign up for NUR100, and it was them filling up the spots! So yeah, that's what I do with my time when I am procrastinating studying (J/K ). No alternate pin for me, I just have to be patient!!
Congrats to everyone that got in:yeah:
I know how frustrating it can be to not get accepted! But maybe you can try another route? how about LPN programs? How about applying to places a little farther away if your willing to travel? Or maybe you might like another healthcare job besides nursing where you can still be in a hospital setting? Don't be discouraged try other options.

Thanks! Congrats to you too! I check the class listings all the time too even though the nursing department has told me a million times that we can't register until we get advised at orientation. The NUR 100 classes don't seem to be filling up too quickly and there a lot of sections available so I'm sure you'll be able to get into whichever sections you want. I can't wait until we can register for NUR 108 and choose our clinical sites

Me too!! I am flexible with regards to the time slots so I hope I can get my first or second choice of location. I already got my stethoscope , my dad gifted it to me the day I got accepted (but I chose the color of course;)). I 've go chasing around my family with it, I also also listen to my baby's (my dog :) heart and belly everyday, she thinks I am crazy, but I am so excited to be a nurse
I'll see you all at orientation, I have to get off this site now, I have spent countless hours on it and have to say motivated to finish this semester!! I also really want my book list, I already have a couple of reference books, but I want my fundamentals book. Also purchased some apps to use on my itouch for clinicals...can you tell I'm ready to go

You're way ahead of me! I was told we would get an orientation packet telling us everything we need to know; I'm hoping that letter wasn't it because I was expecting info about uniforms, shoes, stethoscopes and all that fun stuff. I need to get off here and get some work done too but I'm sure we'll see each other at orientation :)

I think you have a chance of getting in. Remember they don't look at your overall GPA they look at your GPA only for those classes that apply to the Nursing program...but even so you have all your pre-reqs done which is a plus.
Nassau Community's deadline is over....but don't be so quick to give up hope on Farmingdale you never know
