Farmingdale State College

Published

Hi guys. I'm new to posting but I've been a long time lurker. I just wanted to know if anyone is in or is planning to attend Farmingdale State College. I want to go there but I want to know some more information about it. What are the pre-reqs for the LPN program? What is the lowest composite score that they look at? All other schools tell you this but I can't find that info anywhere on Farmingdale's website. I'm currently studying for the exam (even though I have NO IDEA when the next PAX-PN test is being given in NY). I got a B in Psych and also a B is English. I have to re-take A&P1 in the Fall because I didn't do so well in it. I'm trying my hardest to get an A in it so that they'll at least consider me for the program. I'm sorry for the long post but I'm just panicking because I have no clue what I'm really doing lol. I'd love if anyone/everyone could help me out. What other pre-reqs do I need for the PN program? Is it really hard to get into? I'm pretty much freaking out about....EVERYTHING:banghead:. I just don't feel like I'm doing enough. Seriously, do you all think I have a good shot at getting in with the grades I stated above?

i wouldn't totally go by what you see on the website.. i was accepted (to the lpn-rn program) for fall 2010, received my letter etc, but the website still lists me as undeclared. to my knowledge there are still a good amount of seats left, especially since there is still one more test group this coming saturday..

good luck to you all :)

is this saturday going to be the last testing date? for some reason i thought the last testing group was last weekend. anyways congratulations on your acceptance for fall 2010! where did u get your lpn? I finished my lpn at farmingdale in dec'09. do you have a couple years of experience as a working lpn because i know farmingdale requires 3 yrs experience now.

i completed the lpn program in december 2008.. i've worked a little over 1 year, but my class was grandfathered into the old requirements, because the requirements weren't changed until 2009, and when we graduated, we were told we only had to work for 1 year.. so that's the story there! and a friend of mine is taking the test this coming weekend.. it was supposed to be a couple months ago, but that whole snow storm got in the way so their date was rescheduled until this coming saturday..

since you said you just finished the lpn program, are you going in as if it's the normal RN program, not the LPN-Rn? if so, that's great! anything to get the RN done, right? :)

i hope you get in!!

oh thats awesome so you do have work experience......Ive applied to the regular 2 yr not to lpn-rn because i dont have the required working experience. I decided to apply when we were told that the requirement is now 3 yrs work experience to get into lpn-rn. I really like farmingdale and the teachers but i dont want to wait 3 yrs to get my rn degree. yea anything to get into rn! lol.......thanks good luck to you tooo!

Hey everyone. I applied for this Fall for an Associates in Nursing. It's weird because I signed into my Farmingdale account and it says Decision: Waitlisted

However under that it says: Current Program Associate in Science Undergraduate AS-Nursing, Fall 2010 Nursing

You think this means I got in? Even though it says waitlisted why would it say under it that my current program is Nursing unless maybe that is just showing the program that I applied to? Does anyone elses say this that is waitlisted?

That means you are still waitlisted. It gives all the information for the program that you applied to. The only thing that changed the day I was accepted was the "waitlisted" changed to "accepeted-prior conditions". Once I cleared up a transcript is issue it immediatley changed to "accepted- tuition deposit received". Good Luck!! I spoke with the nursing dept. week and they said we should be receiving our orientation packets mid to late April!!

Thanks Jupiter I figured that is what it meant -- just had some wishful thinking going on lol

I called the school and was told the last test is this weekend and letters should go out right after so I guess within the next 2 weeks we should all know

Hi guys!!

I took the test last friday (march 19th) and the counselor there told us that there is one more testing this saturday! she also mentioned that there are only 20 seats left.

I heard the same thing....now we just gotta sick back, pray, and wait for the mailman lol

Does anyone know if Farmingdale accepts A&P credits from NCC? Because i heard that Stony Brook doesn't. Thanks

As far as I know they do. I was asked where I took A&P 1&2 (I told them at NCC) and they never mentioned anything about the credits not transfering.

Yea, Tranz....

Most of my classes are transferred from NCC.

I heard the same thing....now we just gotta sick back, pray, and wait for the mailman lol
