I spend about 15 hours in the car per week commuting back and fourth to school. I HATE it, but don't really have any better options at this point. Some of the things I have done to make it easier are using my time in the car to study. I listen to lectures, and record myself reading over my notes and listen to them also. Doing this has helped make HUGE improvements in my grades, plus I don't feel so stressed when I finally get home!
I'm about 20-25 mins. away depending on traffic. For my first degree I was 45 mins away and loved driving that far everyday. Of course, I didn't like filling up every other day.
In your situation, it's not unheard of. In my program, people are driving from different states to make it to class. Unfortunately, clinicals aren't in their state of residency.
I live about 30 miles from my campus. However, it's in the middle of a major city so traffic is HORRIBLE. I leave my house at 6:30 to be on time for 8:00 classes. I hate it so much. I have to tell myself every day that it won't last forever and that once I graduate, I can get the heck away from this town.

I'm thinking about applying for a school that's a little over a hour away from my home. So I'm thinking my total commute would be about 2 and a half hours a day. Do anyone drive far to get to school and how does it effect you?
