how far do you drive for school

I'm thinking about applying for a school that's a little over a hour away from my home. So I'm thinking my total commute would be about 2 and a half hours a day. Do anyone drive far to get to school and how does it effect you?

My commute will be 104 miles round trip so don't worry, you will not be the only one suffering!

I drive about 30 minutes. It's a super easy drive. A few of the girls in my class live near me and we all carpool. It works out great!!

i start on jan 10 so i will let you know then how it’s affecting me. it’s going to take me anywhere from 45 minutes in good weather to an hour or longer depending on the weather and traffic. i have morning class at 8:00 for 3 days in a week. i will be leaving home pretty early to beat morning rush hour on these 3 days.

happy new year!!! :smiley_aa

Live about 45-60 min. away. Just depends on time of day and traffic.

i live about 30 miles from school and depending on traffic, it can take anywhere from 40 minutes to an hour and a half to get there. like another poster, i have a voice recorder and i record myself reading over my notes/study guides/clinical skills and burn them onto a cd and that way i am "studying" the whole time i'm driving. i have found it to be extremely productive and great for time management!

I did a 2-2 1/2 hour commute round trip during my LPN coursework. Now I only have about a 30 minute round trip commute for my RN. My clinical, however, are a 3 hour round trip.

I think it's doable. Not always very much fun, but doable.

Im not in school yet. However once I start I will have a drive of over an hour and a half, one way.

I live in a big city and take public transport. If I'm traveling during rush hour, the metros come more frequently so it takes me 20 mins to get to school. Non-rush hour, 35 mins tops. I lucked out.

for me i live only 20 minutes from campus. But for my clinical this semester i will be almost an hour on a good day, and with snow it might be about an hour and a half. we have to be there at 8 in the morning so that means i will be leaving my apt at 630 to make sure i find a spot in the hosptial parking and traffic. There are a few classmates of mine who live around me though so i think we are going to figure out something to do with carpooling.

I live 10 miles away from campus, but it can take anywhere from 20 minutes to over an hour depending on traffic. So far my clinicals are pretty local as well.

My biggest issue is the maniacs I share the road with. People drive while texting, putting on make-up, reading the newspaper, etc. And they are all on automatic pilot racing to get to work, or take the kids to soccer practice, or get to pilates class on time.

There are a lot of students with horrible commutes that take three hours. I realize I am very lucky.

Remember that horrible crash where the mother (drunk) was driving the wrong way on a parkway with an SUV full of kids? (Only one child survived.) That happened right at the exit for my school.

My school splits the program between their two campuses. The first year is done at one campus, which is an hour commute for me. The second year is done at another campus, which is 10 minutes from my house. So, hopefully it'll only be painful for that first year.

I drive about an hour...its not too bad actually! Just think if you are getting your ADN then it will only be doing it for 2 years!! :yeah:
