  1. Have you thought of another health care profession like radiography or medical assistant?
  2. After you are done with all of your pre-reqs, you have taken your hesi test and your application for RN program is on file, that is when you become a candidate for the program and the normal wait to get in is 1 year. I became a candidate May 2011 and I got an email that my expected date to enter the program is August 2012.
  3. P.S- grants are funded through the government and do not have to be paid back
  4. Apply for a PELL grant at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ It is based off of your income and you may qualify for the full amount of $5500 or even half (which is better than nothing). Since you are not going till August 2012, you can apply for the grant using your 2011 tax info. Good luck!
  5. I wish someone had given me the same advise im about to give to you: 1. get a book on how to take the nclex test because the tests they give you will be in that form. 2. Learn the steps of the nursing process by heart 3. Learn Maslow's law to determine which needs for the patient should be addressed first. You can thank me later when you are in your 4th week of school =0)
  6. The RN program I am in right now is very competitive. I got a "B" in AP 1 and to make sure I got in I took it over and got an "A". If you want it as bad as I wanted it, then retake both AP classes and make A's in them. Anything is possible, you just can't be afraid to work hard for it.
  7. I started all my prereqs january 2009 and I just started my first semester of the rn program! don't feel bad about placing in a beginners math, as I too had to work my way up from beginners alg all the way to college alg! knock out 2 at a time and go straight through the summer even. there is a light at the end of the tunnel i promise! be patient, do well in your pre reqs and good luck on your journey!
  8. Hey Mick, you wouldn't happen to know off the top of your head how much the books and course packets cost off the top of your head would ya?
  9. Well that's good you only have that class. I'm so grateful I only have the nursing classes to take! I'm not too sure what route I'm gna take, as I'm still getting familiar with santa rosa county so I def need to look into that. I took all my prereqs at pjc and the rest of the classes I took when I was in Boston. I haven't been to the campus in atmore yet. Hopefully its not too close to the casino, lol.
  10. I know what you mean kim! I've worked so long and hard on my prereqs and I still can't believe I'm finally in the program! Are you just taking nursing classes or do you still have to take electives?
  11. Anyone accepted into the fall 2011 class goes to atmore. The following class accepted into january 2012 go to brewton.
  12. I live in Pace. As soon as we get our schedules and if anyone out there wants to carpool hit me up because I'm not looking forward to that 124mile roundtrip commute!
  13. Thank you Mick that really does help! I'm just so glad I got everything out of the way and I'm just taking nursing classes! Good luck with this semester!
  14. Hey mick how is the schedule like the 1st and 2nd semester (duration and frequency of nursing classes). I work part time and need to adjust my work schedule to my classes. Thank you!
  15. I just got my acceptance letter too!!!!!!!! So freakin excited guys!!!!!!!! Hey mike where did you sign up for your bls cert class? Can you post the link? Anyways congrats to the both of you!!! Joy
