Pensacola State nursing program
After you are done with all of your pre-reqs, you have taken your hesi test and your application for RN program is on file, that is when you become a candidate for the program and the normal wait to get in is 1 year. I became a candidate May 2011 and I got an email that my expected date to enter the program is August 2012.

Nursing school now... Or wait indefinitely.
P.S- grants are funded through the government and do not have to be paid back

Nursing school now... Or wait indefinitely.
Apply for a PELL grant at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ It is based off of your income and you may qualify for the full amount of $5500 or even half (which is better than nothing). Since you are not going till August 2012, you can apply for the grant using your 2011 tax info. Good luck!

Just got into nursing school.. advice on how to mentally prepare?
I wish someone had given me the same advise im about to give to you: 1. get a book on how to take the nclex test because the tests they give you will be in that form. 2. Learn the steps of the nursing process by heart 3. Learn Maslow's law to determine which needs for the patient should be addressed first. You can thank me later when you are in your 4th week of school =0)

Should I quit to get into nursing program..Need Help ...LOST
The RN program I am in right now is very competitive. I got a "B" in AP 1 and to make sure I got in I took it over and got an "A". If you want it as bad as I wanted it, then retake both AP classes and make A's in them. Anything is possible, you just can't be afraid to work hard for it.

Jefferson Davis Fall 2011
Well that's good you only have that class. I'm so grateful I only have the nursing classes to take! I'm not too sure what route I'm gna take, as I'm still getting familiar with santa rosa county so I def need to look into that. I took all my prereqs at pjc and the rest of the classes I took when I was in Boston. I haven't been to the campus in atmore yet. Hopefully its not too close to the casino, lol.

I have no idea what I should do
You should do what will make you happy! But here's a thought, maybe you should just go for your BS in nursing and become a flight nurse......that's just like a flying ambulance :0) On a different note, you should ALWAYS keep this in mind: whatever degree you get or profession you chose, there will always be competition for that position (including paramedics) you are going for and that there is always a risk you may not get a job right away. There are thousands of students who graduate every spring and don't get a job straight out of school (I've read it and heard it on the news) AND if that were the case for you if you chose to be an RN you can always become a travel nurse :0) Or why not try BOTH: You are super young! Go for RN and then go for paramedic! Anyways, whatever you choose I'm sure will be the right one for you! Good luck!!!!

HESI Math.....help!
Congrats and good luck in school!

Totally lost on how to study for TEAS
I took the TEAS V last month and I'm not going to lie.... it really sucked. I thought it was hard and im always amazed to see people on here scoring 80s and 90s! Maybe i should've studied more? Anyways, I lost track of time for the first part of the test (reading and comp section),and found out I only had five minutes left and had to guess on the last 10 questions :0( So please don't lose track of time. The Science part was hard. You really need to brush up on everything: A&P, chem, life biology (cells and its organelles). I had one punnett square. I think everyone gets one punnett square. I also had a couple of questions about the food web. I studied out of the Mcgrath-hill nursing entrance exam book. The math section really helped me out! My score was just OK. The average for the school im trying to get in was 63% and I got a 70 and i'm pretty sure if i did not run out of time in the first section my score would've been higher. Good luck and I hope I was a little helpful :0)

HESI Math.....help!
If I were you I would practice the math problems in the HESI book over and over and over again until it sticks. I'm in College Algebra right now and I suck at math but I find if I keep on practicing the problems they eventually stick. Also just a heads up, I took the test last week and I got A LOT of the ratio and proportions problems( 5:12::25:60) so def. go over those in your HESI book. Good luck and I hope you really do well on your exam!

tired and discouraged pre- nursing
How many classes are you taking? Are you at least getting a C in the class? Maybe you have too much on you plate right now? if i was doing poorly in one class and was sure i would not be able to bring up the grade, i would drop and and take it again in the fall. maybe you can take chem again along with just one more class so you are not so overwhelmed because i know how hard chem is. pre reqs are a pain in the a$$ but it has to be done and you will be done eventually =0)

Tired of Pre-Reqs
I've been doing my pre reqs part time since spring 2009 and I am finally finished with them this semester!!! i was just like you wondering when the heck will i ever finish??? Just be patient..... I promise you THERE IS A LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL!
