FAMU (spring 2010)

Published

Hi,

I am new here and I just have a couple of questions about FAMU's nursing program. I have an AA from BCC pre nursing, now I am currently attending FIU taking 2 classes. I am applying for the spring semester, I already got into the school now I amj ust getting everything together for the nursing program. So, if you applied to that school and got in please reply back to this. Here are my question

1) I know we have to set up an interview but im confused, do I need to do that before the deadline for the nursing application, or after?

2) Ihave the 3 letters of recommendation but I read somewhere on here that we need to write an essay too. I dont recall that.

3) Do we need to get a background check too?

i have a few question....first congrats on your acceptance. i wanted to know, did you have to go to a interview when accepted, and do you have to have all the classes done to apply including general edu classes,do you need organic chemistry or can you apply with a different chemistry and last what was your gpa if you dont mind sharing....thank you

Hey RN@2,

Well thank you. One you get accepted, you don't have to go to an interview that's it. You don't have to have all your classes done but, if you still have classes left to take just make sure that when you are applying you are currently take those classes. If they are pre-reqs that you need you need have them done already or at least getting them done. I don't remember taking organic chemistry but I did take chemistry for health sciences so that other chemistry is not a requirement. My gpa was a 3.54

English 1

psy

anatomy 1&2 w/lab

chemistry w/lab

Microbio w/lab

sociology

nutrition

2 electives

wellness

development psyc

and then im currently taking:

english 2

speech

african american history

statistics

lol....could I apply ?

and one more question....when they calculate your GPA do they calculate just the science classes or the overall classes you have taken ?

Honestly, I really don't know how they calculate your grades. if you are going to transfer lets just say you are going to need all the 60 credits. I think that you are good to apply.

Thanks so much for your help

Hi, this is my first time post.

I am from Michigan and I am applying to FAMU for the fall 2010. I need more information about really how financial aid works(from current students). Also I want to know is their an people from out of state that is going there now and what was your experience with the application process. Also for those who do not mind sharing what was your GPA. I just need an overview, because I am really nervous about applying (especially when I heard that you do not know if you are accept until about 2 weeks {please tell me that is an exaggeration})

simple lovable= i am an fiu student and i need to take an african american history class as a perquisite for famu's nursing program- its the only class i am missing. i also know you went to bbc (bc). what class did you take?

also, when is the deadline for spring 2010?

thank you!!

Hello,

sorry for taking such a very long time to reply to the thread i was studying really hard for finals but it’s over thank God.

@ apotter About the school having people from out of state, we actually have a couple of those in our nursing program. As far as financial aid is concerned I mean whatever money I got from it was able to cover my tuition/ buy books and I still had leftovers (hope I answered your question, if not just write me in my inbox and I’ll send you my phone number). Regarding the notification about getting accepted into the school you do find out at the last minute. My gpa was a 3.5

@ giggles as far as the African American history class I never took it because I had all my 60 credits from bcc so it was waived. I took all the pre-reqs that were required English (I and II), chemistry for health sciences and the lab, microbiology and the lab, psy, anatomy 1&2 w/lab, sociology, nutrition, 2 electives, wellness, development psyc, speech, statistics, and college algebra. As far as the deadline for spring 2010 is concerned I honestly don’t know when that is.

do you need an AA degree or just the required class ?

Just the required classes
