FAMU (spring 2010)

Published

Hi,

I am new here and I just have a couple of questions about FAMU's nursing program. I have an AA from BCC pre nursing, now I am currently attending FIU taking 2 classes. I am applying for the spring semester, I already got into the school now I amj ust getting everything together for the nursing program. So, if you applied to that school and got in please reply back to this. Here are my question

1) I know we have to set up an interview but im confused, do I need to do that before the deadline for the nursing application, or after?

2) Ihave the 3 letters of recommendation but I read somewhere on here that we need to write an essay too. I dont recall that.

3) Do we need to get a background check too?

Hi simplie Lovable. I am applying to Famu nursing program for fall 2011.I was wondering if you took your boards already and how was it.Does FAMU students perform well on thier boards if so what is thier pass rate and do they sign up most if not all thier students to take the test?Im excited to start thier program. Please let me know.

Hey guys! I'm also applying for fall 2010. I'm really nervous about moving to a new area but I've applied at ucf (where I'm a student), fsu, and unf nursing schools and already got my rejection letters which is so discouraging. My overall gpa is a 3.56 with a prereq gpa of 3.77. Honestly, I'm just scared of being rejected once again lol it sucks. Ok, now this question might be silly but I know that famu is a historically African American school which obviously is predominately black...I'm white lol do you think I have a chance? And yes, I am being serious lol. I really don't care if I'm the only white girl in my class lol I'm just curious if anyone knows. Thanks guys :)

I think you mean 2011..lol i know that Famu is a historically black school but i do think they take whites based on a photo i saw on thier website..i mean why not? We have around the same GPA and i am applying for the fall.Have you heard anything about thier pass rates on thier board exam?

lol okay, that's good to know. And yes, I did mean 2011..whoops! This is the first school i've ever seen that asks for a picture of yourself...so I wasn't sure if that was a way of racial profiling. haha, I feel **** out of luck after getting rejected at so many places that I don't even care where I go at this point, as long as I get a degree. I have no idea what their pass rates are on the nclex. What is your real name? Mine's amber :)

yeah i know they ask for a passport photo, alot of times they use it just to place a face with the application.Im Kayon :)I really want to get into a program also.Im finishing up my last set of prerequisites this semester and then and im waiting for those grades to be posted before i send in my application.Did u send in your application as yet?

No, net yet. I'm going to start on it this week I think though...because it looks pretty intense!

It's crazy that they don't let you know if you get in until like 2 weeks before school starts lol that's so stressful

yeah i also saw that article but it also depends on how many students they sign up to take the test.Meaning if they have 50 students in thier program and they only sign up 10 to take the boards and 10 pass the test then they can say they had 100% passes. But im hoping thats not the case.

yes i read that they dont let you know until 2 weeks but i am going to call and double check on that.I mean students have to move in two weeks..thats crazyyy

yes it is ...hopefully we can get in.Nursing school is so hard to get into these days

I know...I can't even to explain how beyond stressed out I am. lol, at least this nursing school is accredited which is a good thing...and by hearing from other nursing students it sounds like a pretty good program. Let me know what they say about the 2 week thing!!!
