FAMU (spring 2010)

Published

Hi,

I am new here and I just have a couple of questions about FAMU's nursing program. I have an AA from BCC pre nursing, now I am currently attending FIU taking 2 classes. I am applying for the spring semester, I already got into the school now I amj ust getting everything together for the nursing program. So, if you applied to that school and got in please reply back to this. Here are my question

1) I know we have to set up an interview but im confused, do I need to do that before the deadline for the nursing application, or after?

2) Ihave the 3 letters of recommendation but I read somewhere on here that we need to write an essay too. I dont recall that.

3) Do we need to get a background check too?

Girl I got a 58!!!! lol For UNF they only take your first test!! After the test I was like never again!! lol I knew that it was bad!! lol I have very low hope of getting into UNF!! LOL I am hoping that my medical experience will help me getting into one of the other schools! I am a medical assistant, went through school and all so ya... I am just so nervous about what date orientation will be!! cause I am supposed to be in Myrtle Beach, but if I cant go I cant go... I got your message.. I friend requested you, my name is Ashley. Florida Hospital College (the one I am talking about) is not online. You have to work at the hospital first and then they pay for you to go to nursing school while you work there, in the end when you graduate you just have to work for them for 2 years. I do not think thats a bad deal cause a lot of places want experienced nurses. My BFs cousin was just hired as a nurse and she graduated from nursing school like a year ago I believe.. so yea... Man I hope we get in!!

omg don't feel bad lol...UNF makes you take the teas V (I got a 68)...but UCF lets you take the teas 3.0/4.0 (not sure which one) but its so much easier than version V...thats the one I got an 82 on. I applied to UNF for summer and their teas score average was high lol I stood no chance! plus they only accept 24 for summer and 48 for fall!!!! Nice, that's awesome. I guess i'm thinking of something else. I know they have a rn-BSN completely online program, so I think that's what I was thinking of. I'd say totally go for it if you dont get in here! Did you apply to the university already and everything? I got my "acceptance" letter for the school today. lol.

Hey girl. Ya I got my acceptance letter from FAMU I believe in early March. I messaged you on FB about orientation, for undergraduate ( not nursing). So let me know if you have done one or not!! =]

Hey guys i called famu and spoke to the advisor and she said that we might not know if we get in until 2 weeks before the program starts. She also said that it is good to have a plan in place just in case i get accepted. Is anyone going to the school orientation on July 18.??/Please let me know.

I'm going on the 18th! It kinda stinks we have to go before we even know if we get into the program.

Hi apotter :) i was wondering if you heard anything about Famu's nclex scores.I applied for the Fall 2011 and just in case i get accepted, do you know how well the students do on thier boards.

they claim a high success rate I know one year they say 100% pass rate. but you will learn like I think many schools that the classes are made to pass the nclex and not many people who start graduate on time. and you have to pass a nclex like exam before you graduate

Thank you so much for responding i really appreciate it.I know we are asking alot of questions but we are applying with not much knowledge about the school.:( Do you feel like you are well prepared to take the test and would you recommend that even though i do not know if i am accepted as yet that i start checking into housing. Also was financial aid able to cover your tuition and rent?(if you had these expenses)

Being in the unknown is typical for famu. I am only 3rd semester so Im personally is not thinking about the NCLEX but like I said before the school is designed to pass the NCLEX. I did not apply for financial aid early enough to get anything and I am out of state student. Since I dont know your financial situation I could tell you any thing but apply early (like march). I applied for housing a week before orientation and got it (but on campus suck). If you have questions asked

I have a 3.5 GPA with a 3.8 in my sciences now.Do you think i have a chance of getting in.What was the average GPA for your class?Do you like the school?

Hey everyone...I was wondering if any of you were going to the August 23rd orientation?

Hi everyone, I'm not sure if anyone is still writing posts to this particular thread, but I am also applying for FAMU's school of Nursing Fall 2011 and was just trying to reach out to anyone who was pretty much in the same boat as me...I've already submitted my app with everything that was required and my G.P.A. is a 3.3...
