I am new here and I just have a couple of questions about FAMU's nursing program. I have an AA from BCC pre nursing,now I am currently attending FIU taking 2 classes. I am applying for the spring semester, I already got into the school now I amj ust getting everything together for the nursing program. So, if you applied to that school and got in please reply back to this. Here are my question
1) I know we have to set up an interview but im confused, do I need to do that before the deadline for the nursing application, or after?
2) Ihave the 3 letters of recommendation but I read somewhere on here that we need to write an essay too. I dont recall that.
Im in the program now. Your gpa is very good you will def get in. bout race when I started we had about 10 people out of 50 that were not black and famu is a really multiethinic school (in my opinion compared to the other HBCU i been to) send me a message if you have any other questions

thank you so much! Do they really wait 2 weeks to tell you if you get in? If so, how did you go about getting housing so quickly? Lol also, do you enjoy the program? What's the area like? Is it close to fsu? Sorry for all my questions lol I really appreciate your help girl!
Yes it is about a week before orientation. I luckly got on campus housing(dont know how) I personal do not like the program because they throw you in the wood with very little guidance. but it is a nursing program and pretty easiy especially since you have a ?3.7? you not going to have any problems. the area is a little bad but if you smart you wont have any problems (also close is relative IDK)
thanks for the advice :). Are the teachers good? I'm sorry you don't like it , but hey, in the end you will have your nursing degree and that's all that matters :)
I dont want you to think negative of the program because it is really what you make it and everybody is different....and like you said at the end I going to get that degree with a 3.5 so I am not complaining.
The teacher are very hard to explain if they are good or not it feels like your being thrown to the wolf, but as I heard compare to other schools you will feel prepared when you leave (this is just what I heard)
Hi Apotter i am also applying to Famu.I was curious to know what the passing rate on the nclex is at Famu and also is there a progress exam each semester or just an exit exam.Personally i really dont mind having hard teachers as long as the students are prepared well..I would really appreciate your opinion.Thank you in advance...
Hey everyone I am new to this site as well! I am also applying to FAMU for Fall 2011. I just finished my chemistry 1031 and Lab today. I got an A in both of them!! YAY! I actually called FAMU but had to leave a message because I wanted to know if there is orientation for the nursing program itself when you are accepted. I am scheduled to be in Myrtle Beach from Aug. 19-25 so I am kinda worried that orientation will be around then! =X. I am sending in my application next week. I have everything done accept my photo. If anyone knows if there is orientation and what date I would greatly appreciated it!

I will def. let you know when I find out! I think I am going to call again today to see if I can get ahold of someone! I actually just moved up here from south Florida 4 months ago and I just finished my chem classes at TCC. I am not sure what my GPA is now because I got an A in Chem lecture and lab, so I will have to wait till grades are posted! How about yours? I did not get into FSU so I am just hoping that I get in either at FAMU, TCC, or UNF. We will see!! Are you transferring from somewhere else?
oh your GPA is really good!! I think with the two A's mine will be around a 3.3....? IDK I slacked off my first year, sooo ya.. lol I was going to apply to UCF but you had to take the TEAS test by Feb. and I did not take it till about a week ago. I never want to take that test again.. lol I studied forever for it and half of the quesetions I was like umm I think I learned this in 7th grade and have no idea.. lol.. If I do not get in my grandmother lives in Davenport and knows a lot of nurses at Florida Hospital so I might try to get into their nursing program as well! Are you staying down there if you do not get in, or do you plan on just moving here?
Thanks girl, so is yours! I had a 3.3 last year and have worked my butt off ever since to get all A's lol it's so hard to get into nursing, and I know this is what I want to do. OMG I HATE THE TEAS! lol I took it 3 times. Highest score was an 82, and that wasn't good enough. How did you do? I looked at the Florida hospital program, but its online and I don't know how much i'll really learn that way...and SO EXPENSIVE. But if I dont get in here or anywhere else, i'll definitely be looking into that too. If I don't get in, ill just stay here in Orlando and work on a minor and apply again probably in spring. I've got my finger crossed though!! (p.s. I just sent you a private message)
