i'm interested in hearing how hospitals and other healthcare organizations promote family presence.
1. how does your organization keep patients' families present at an organization/system level (e.g participation in creating policies, procedures, design)
2. how does your organization keep patients' families present at the patient-care level (i.e. bedside, during appointments, in ed)?
3. describe how your organization has used some of the following best practices to include patients' families to provide patient-centered care:
- patient advisory councils
- caregiver classes
- family participation in rounding &/or charting
- other examples
4. what is the area of greatest need for involving patients' families at your organization?

Homework assignment?
I am working on a white paper to promote family presence in healthcare settings. As one of the dimensions of patient- and family-centered care, many organizations still struggle with understanding a few things:
1) why is it important to include families
2) what can famililes be involved in - both at the bedside and at the 'system' level
3) HOW to get them involved
These are some topics I want to explore, but I want to hear from others what's being done out there.
Many thanks!

Honestly, hearsay shouldn't be included in a research paper. Look up hospital policy and the evidence based research that is the foundation for the policy. Your paper will be much more solid if you stick to evidence based sources.
Good luck!

Funny how the use of language gives away a homework assignment. A working nurse's post sounds very different.
