Anyone applying to WesternU's MSN-E program? If so, do you know when they will start the interview process? What they look for in their applicants (gpa, extracurricular, etc)?

Current students--What were your stats like?

Any information would be helpful =)

Thanks in advance!

Did anyone go to the interview date on Jan 28th? I am wondering if anyone has heard anything yet. I know it is soon, but I am anxious to see how son people will get notified. I hear its as early as a week.

The interview was not bad at all! They are very nice and they ask everyone the same questions -- no right or wrong answers.

Hey everyone! i just got a call for an interview. I think i'm going to be Feb.15th at 7:45. I am currently sitting under about 4 feet of snow. Best snow day ever! Does anyone have any tips?

I didn't feel comfortable with my interview at all last year; however, I had one this year on Jan 29th and I felt really good about it. I really liked the people who interviewed me; they made me feel really comfortable. There are no right or wrong answers technically ... But just be smart about it. Really the only tip I have is to calm your nerves and relax cause it's really not that bad. Last year I was so nervous I think it screwed up my interview.oh!! Ask them questions at the end. Get to know them!

Western said that they will not be sending out acceptance/denial letters til the end of Feruary. They interview all the cadidates then make a final decision on 55 to 60 students for fall 2011. They said they are also running behind this year because it's their first time with Nursing CAS.

Yay!!! I got a call from Daniell today to schedule an interview for Feb. 14! Nervous? VERY!

:chair:

What type of questions for the essay did you all have to answer? Im afraid that I'll be too nervous to write and be grammatically correct at the same time. Is this essay a big factor of getting accepted or not?

Congrats dche3! I have my interview on the 14th as well... are you in the morning or afternoon? Also good question on the writing portion, because I'm wondering the same thing too.

Thank you dlrosen. Congrats to you too! Im in the afternoon interview. How about you? I hope someone answers my question about the essay part. What are you doing to prepare yourself for the interview?

The writing portion was easy. You don't get graded on it, they just want a sample of your writing to see if you're prepared to write essays (since we will be writing a lot). If you get admitted and your writing isn't very good, they want to be prepared to give you the resources to improve.

Thank you dche3! =) I'm in the morning session, but I wish you the best of luck. In regards to preparing for the interview... mostly relaxation techniques because I get incredibly nervous! Mostly just reviewing what I wrote in my essay ... I think it'll mostly be scenarios they will be asking about, so there isn't any right or wrong answer. I think knowing they are trying to assess critical thinking skills are helpful. I'm trying not to think too much about it because it'll just get me worked up. =)

As for the essay, I'm really interested in knowing about that too ... so thank you, hlu5 for the feedback. It's very helpful and also comforting to know why they are doing this as a part of the process... The end of February can't come soon enough. I just want to know already!

Did any of you apply anywhere else?

Thanks hlu5 for calming my nerves about the essay =)

dlrosen i wish you the best of luck as well! I feel the same way... once I start thinking about it i get super nervous!

I also applied to Concordia's Accelerated BSN program.

Hlu5 is exactly right about the writing portion. It's nothing to be nervous about at all so put your focus on the interview.
