  1. Hi!I actually just received my RN Aug 29th and I just received an ER position in the hospital I used to be an EMT for years. It was actually a blessing because like you, I know all the people, where everything is etc. I start in November and am also extremely nervous especially about now being an RN in front of all these people I know. It feels like more pressure. But at least I can say being in a familiar place takes pressure off knowing were all the supplies are, knowing the routine, knowing and feeling comfortable asking others q's, and knowing all the units and rooms in the hospital for transfer. This will allow me to really concentrate on being an RN and not having to worry about all the other nerve racking stuff that comes w being new. So if u don't get the job u interviewed ( I also interview for a job and was very sad I didn't get it) so this really was a blessing in disguise, u could also get an RN position at the facility ur currently at. If u do get the position, always ask for help when needed. It's better to seek help and be confident than make a mistake. Find that one person u can count on. I did an internship and they usually will place u w a good preceptor! Good luck!
  2. Yes, I just took NCLEX last week and I took a total of 85 questions. With in the first 75 questions I had like 20 select all that apply and many priority/delegation questions. I had thought I failed but my friend had said if you were getting a lot of these type of questions that I had passed. I did the Pearson Vue pop-up when I got home like an hour later and I had got the pop up. Less than 48 hours later my name was on the BRN website (Ca does not participate in Quick Results). The pop up has worked for me and all of my friends! If you get the pop up u pass; if you get the credit card screen u fail . Good luck to all who have not taken it. I did kaplan questions like crazy, I also borrowed a friends Hurst book and watched the online videos which was very helpful.
  3. It's BLS (Basic Life Support) for health care providers by American Heart.
  4. Ha ha ya really! It's always great to have a back up plan! Ya I ordered my scrubs Tuesday and I received them Thursday. The company we order ours from is called Dove Apparel. Really good quality; I was very impressed. I also ordered the all white Dove Nurse mates shoes on Sears.com. They were only like 47bucks compared to other places that were selling them for 70 before taxes. Super comfortable and sleek! Sorry way off topic for this forum. Good luck in the program and to everyone else as well!
  5. I am going to school at California Baptist University in Riverside, CA. You?
  6. Ok so I checked on the website today and I was denied. I have been checking for a few days and it kept saying "submitted" I guess i didn't go all the way through. I needed to click continue then enter my password. Once I did that a copy of the denial letter came right up. I am not too sad since I already got into another school that begins in May and have started the entire process. I just received my scrubs yesterday in the mail!!! I could have slept in them I was so happy!! It sure would have been nice to be accepted to UCLA though!! Oh well I am still very happy with the school that I will be attending. If anyone doesnt have access to the status website here it is http://www.gdnet.ucla.edu/gasaa/admissions/applicat.htm. Click on Decision Status, put in your email, click continue, then enter in your password. Good luck to all!! I will no longer be stalking this this forum... well maybe for a while to see the status of the rest of you :) Good luck good luck good luck!!!!
  7. I was denied last year and I only got a letter in the mail.
  8. That's what happened to me last year... I had a bunch of questions and then they were all answered throughout the day. So, this year I asked them about themselves like why they wanted to be a nurse and how they got started. It was really nice getting to know them and hearing their experiences.
  9. I sent thank you letters to the school I got into because they interviewed a lot less than Western. I thought if I sent them to western they might not get them.
  10. I'm pretty sure it is. I love everything about the school. Plus it's cheaper, way closer to home, and a closer cohort of students. I'm still considering Western but I still haven't heard anything from them and I have already started the process with CBU (background check, paperwork etc.). I am just so thankful I got into a program!!
  11. Thank you dlrosen! I am super excited!!! I applied to Cal Baptist University, UCLA, APU, and Western. I got accepted to CBU. It's a Christian university just like APU or Loma Linda University. Anyone who doesn't get accepted this year for some reason should apply to Cbu because it's a newer program and many people don't know about it. They only accepted a cohort of 20 this year but hope to increase it for their next start date in May 2012 to 40 students. Dche3, Yes, in my denial letter it gave me a date to call back on if I would like further information on my application. I called back and they said my essay was good and my grades were very good (they told me I had a 3.6 in my last 90 units); however, I don't think I did very well in my interview because I was so nervous. They said that the committee felt that I wanted just to be an RN that they felt I really didn't concentrate on wanting to be a master's degree prepared nurse. I don't know it was something like that (which is not true at all; I totally want my MSN). I did way better in my interview this year though and had different committee members whom I really meshed well with. Good luck everyone!!! Almost there!!
  12. I just got accepted yesterday to an EL-MSN program at another school!!!! The program I applied to does not have a deposit fee which is very nice. The program I was accepted to begins this May, so it is coming up very fast. Still waiting for Western though. I hope to hear from them soon!
  13. I know me too! So I have heard that if you receive a large envelope in the mail from schools that's a good thing (meaning acceptance) and if you receive just a regular letter size envelope from them that's either a denial letter or an alternate letter. Does anyone know how true this is?

  15. Wow!! Congratulations Maxpower! When was your interview with Western? Mine was Jan 29th and I haven't heard anything.
