Anyone applying to WesternU's MSN-E program? If so, do you know when they will start the interview process? What they look for in their applicants (gpa, extracurricular, etc)?

Current students--What were your stats like?

i have an interview this saturday too! this is my second go around, so i hope i get in this time and not on the alternate list! for the interview questions, they ask a lot of patient situational questions. the interviewers will ask you to put your "nurse thinking hat on" (i thought that was pretty funny). you just have to be on your toes because they are obviously looking at your critical thinking skills! good luck to everyone!!

do you have to be a pro at the current issues of nursing right now? the questions are making me nervous. do they ask you about your past too? it seems like it is more of "testing your nursing skills" rather then "testing your nursing knowledge" , am i correct?

I'm not sure what this means, but, if I do get an interview for Monday, would you like to carpool? I'm in far N CA also, though willing to drive to the Bay area if that's where you are and you're willing. Otherwise, I'll be driving to LA solo.

So, has anyone else received a phone message from Danielle with no invitation for an interview? And/or, does she ever call to tell someone they're not invited, or are on the alternates list?

HI, as soon as i get 6 more posts i can private message. hahaha.. i just found that out. But I will tell you that my bachelors degree was not so pretty. But my two years after my bachelors degree, (like 70-80 units) was a 4.0 . Sciences are 4.0. And i have been volunteering in the ER for almost 2 years. and my pre reqs are in the 3.8-3.9 area. Since my last 60 units are very strong, i suppose that helped me quite a bit.

Hi hlu5. Sorry for late reply its been a long day. I did receive an e-mail today. My interview is on monday at 7:45 AM.

"Monday, January 31, 2011 You should plan to arrive in the HealthEducationCenter, 1st Floor Lobby 7:45a.m.You can anticipate being on campus for approximately 4 ½ hours".

Did you receive your e-mail yet?

I live in bay area (northern California) so I will be driving down there. Short notice but I am still happy about it :)

Hey Sahar5,

You do not have to be pro at current issues in the nursing field, but I would brush up on some of the issues just in case there are questions. They will be asking around 10 questions and about 5 are situational questions, for example as a nurse what would do in this situation. They will not ask a lot about your past because they have your personal statement! But they probably will ask, why nursing? Shocker, right? :p In all, I did feel they wanted to test your critical thinking skills more then anything. So stay true to yourself, do not be nervous (the people interviewing you are very nice & will make you feel comfortable), and let your inner nurse shine through! GOOD LUCK!

Vickan, I would be going alone if my friend didn't agree to come with me as well. I just have to figure something out for her to do while we are in the interview lol. My interview is the afternoon one though, it starts at 12:45.Where will you be staying? I am going to book a hotel today for sunday night. Can you PM me your number? I'm not allowed to PM yet lol.
