Fall 2011 Western University of Health Sciences MSN-E

Published

Anyone applying to WesternU's MSN-E program? If so, do you know when they will start the interview process? What they look for in their applicants (gpa, extracurricular, etc)?

Current students--What were your stats like?

Any information would be helpful =)

Thanks in advance!

It's BLS (Basic Life Support) for health care providers by American Heart.

Meeeshelllie, did you accept to Western?

yes, i did; but i am still on the fence about going since i have to hear back from three other schools. if i decline admission, i'll be sure to let you guys know in case any of you are placed on the waitlist (god forbid :)).

for those of you who have Western as their #1 choice, may i please ask why? not that i don't think Western is a good school; i loved everything they had to offer and thought the faculty and staff were beyond nice and supportive. i can totally see myself going there. it's just that it's pretty expensive, it's four years (for FNP), and it's distance-based. does anyone know why it's four years while some programs are only 2-3 years? also, is anyone else kind of iffy about learning from a distance? i've always been more of a traditional student that learns best in the physical classroom setting and can't imagine learning nursing online. although, i could be a little behind time ;). thoughts? if anyone has had a positive/negative experience from distance-based education, please share! i'd greatly appreciate it.

and good luck to you all! :)

Hey Meeeshellie, I really do well on my own. I have taken several online classes and done very well in them. I guess i never really thought about the distance as a bad thing, but if that's not condusive to your learning style you might want to look into another program. I guess it's a preference thing. SMU doesn't have a distance only program and I know of serveral others that don't either.

Hey Dewdrops! I remember you too! Yes i'm the one from Illinois and I had a terrible time getting to the interview, my connection got canceled midflight! I really hope to hear back soon! I loved your shirt btw!

Sky: Did you get an acceptance email?

So far we have had 5 people post that they got emails? Any others? It seems as though people heard yesterday morning? Anyone get an email yesterday afternoon?

GOOOOOOOOD LUUUUUUCK!

To those who received acceptance emails, did you guys also get a phone call or just an email??

just an email...

dlrosen: Is western your first choice? How long do they say you have to make your decision and send in your deposit?

Sugarplumkitty: It's kinda like rolling admission. Western give the students a little more than 2 weeks to decide to send in the $500 deposit to hold their seats. My last name is p, interviewed end of Jan. I just got an email, no phone call, no USPS mail. Good Luck everyone!

ilnurse - In the acceptance email it said we have until March 28th.

hey ilnurse15 i actually did receive my acceptance email yesterday around 1230pm pacific time. My last name starts with a 'Y.' I do believe I will be Western bound in the fall! Grats to all of you who received acceptances! Stay hopeful all of you who are waiting for replies! :)
