Hi all!
Thought I would start a thread for the fall semester! Anyone who wants to share their stats or anything about the application process can post them here! My stats as of now...
Pre-nursing GPA: 3.54
Science GPA: 3.67
HESI: 87.7
Pretty worried that my stats aren't good enough. Scored low on the A&P section of the HESI (80%) but made an A in the class...hoping maybe that will help even it out? I get discourage when I read through the other threads and see people get rejected with 4.0 GPA's and 90s on the HESI. I do have 80 volunteering hours at a children's hospital but I doubt that would help me enough.
My denial just popped up. Blergh.
My stats are:
Prereq: 3.931
Science: 4.000
94 overall on HESI with 88 in A&P.
I have 4 W's on my transcripts dating back to 2004 (with 1 F and 1 C from 2004).
I still had 6 classes to complete at time of application (A&P2, Micro, Philosophy, Art, Statistics, Sociology)
I've attended 4 colleges in total (maybe a factor?)
I applied in December.
I don't have a previous bachelors.
I'll apply again next Spring, I think. I won't retake the HESI. I took the TEAS VI today and did phenomenal (99th percentile across the board!!!) so that opens me up to some more great programs in Houston.
I think that's it. I still don't see any rhyme or reason to their application process, other than a previous bachelors winning you points, and maybe males have a leg up to try to make the cohorts more diverse. Maybe above a 90 on the A&P section? Maybe having all the pre-reqs done at time of application?? Who knows? - there are too many examples to refute all of those possibilities. Anyways, I'm out! See you guys on the Spring forum!
Hey everyone! I finally got in!
To my email....
I received my denial email today about an hour ago. Like I mentioned before, and like others I have what I think are pretty solid stats.
I applied on March 15th (first come first served maybe?)
Too many withdrawals? (which all happened in 91-94ish)
I am opening up my application process to at least include TWU, and am preparing for the TEAS as we speak. I can say though until I get a definitive answer on excessive withdrawals being a factor, I just feel philosophically blocked from applying again. And I really want to. As I continue my pursuit of a nursing degree, I can say that I did contact Texas Women's who were very upfront that withdrawals are not a factor, excessive or minimal. But I still have plenty of work to do, and I can't spend all my time talking to the lot of you! Congratulations again to all you who got in, and to those of us that didn't, too. We're ******* awesome! Keep studying and while I may not see you on campus, I'll definitely see you in the ER. (well on second thought I hope not!)
JJfuture, In the myUTH portal under admission status... yellow triangle changed on me, and just when I was starting to get to know it better. And yes it does state denied. It even lets you click on it and takes you to the page where they wish you well on your future endeavors. (But technically I never even worked for you guys).
Dont think for a second I WONT be printing it and framing it.
Question: where exactly does it show the status? Does it states denied?! Thanks
Usually you get an email saying you were not accepted, also when you login into your uth portal , go to admission status and it will tell you. When I got denied for spring 2017, it showed a red circle with a line going across along with the word denied. Can never forget that lol í ½íº«

@rmreid Your stats are pretty much perfect! Goes to show there's really a whole lot of luck and mysterious decision making going on haha. Good luck to us next round! :)
