Fall 2017:UT Health Science Center Houston

Hi all!

Thought I would start a thread for the fall semester! Anyone who wants to share their stats or anything about the application process can post them here! My stats as of now...

Pre-nursing GPA: 3.54

Science GPA: 3.67

HESI: 87.7

Pretty worried that my stats aren't good enough. Scored low on the A&P section of the HESI (80%) but made an A in the class...hoping maybe that will help even it out? I get discourage when I read through the other threads and see people get rejected with 4.0 GPA's and 90s on the HESI. I do have 80 volunteering hours at a children's hospital but I doubt that would help me enough.

In the myUTH portal under admission status... yellow triangle changed on me, and just when I was starting to get to know it better.

What did it change to?

You guys as someone who has been denied twice, I can tell you I have spoken to many many applicants, and there is no rhyme or reason to it. It completely seems to be a lottery system! Do not let this set back get you down, maybe UTHSC wasn't the school for you, but we live in Houston with several amazing options near us, TWU, UTA Online, and TAMCC Online! Keep on truckin' and figure out that next step! You can do it!

This semester I applied to 2 schools, and I was lucky enough to have to make a dificult decision between the 2. Like you my heart was set on UTHSC, but it didn't happen for me. I do think that the right fit for me found me, and I am so excited! I even chose a traditional program over an accelerated one!

Also, I should mention I have a classmate who was waitlisted at one semester at UTHSC and denied the next! She has an advanced degree too! Really, this has nothing to do with how amazing you all are!

It even lets you click on it and takes you to the page where they wish you well on your future endeavors. (But technically I never even worked for you guys).

Dont think for a second I WONT be printing it and framing it.

Usually you get an email saying you were not accepted, also when you login into your uth portal , go to admission status and it will tell you. When I got denied for spring 2017, it showed a red circle with a line going across along with the word denied. Can never forget that lol ������

This is worrisome.. Some other comments you may have more chances to get in next time applying.. But yes now with everyone's experience.. We just don't know who will get in

may I ask what program you accepted? A lot of requirements?

I was accepted at TWU and UTA AO... I chose TWU. The only added requirements I believe were Nutrition and TEAS for TWU, but for UTA I had to take Patho, Pharm, Intro, and Med Term... they didn't transfer, but I'm happy to take them again and gain a stronger base!

Really.. Wow.. Yes after my spring semester my gpa went up so I'll have more options open but I do need to take TEAS to open more options which I'm hoping I can take over the summer! Great! Good luck at TWU!
