Fall 2017:UT Health Science Center Houston

Published

Hi all!

Thought I would start a thread for the fall semester! Anyone who wants to share their stats or anything about the application process can post them here! My stats as of now...

Pre-nursing GPA: 3.54

Science GPA: 3.67

HESI: 87.7

Pretty worried that my stats aren't good enough. Scored low on the A&P section of the HESI (80%) but made an A in the class...hoping maybe that will help even it out? I get discourage when I read through the other threads and see people get rejected with 4.0 GPA's and 90s on the HESI. :( I do have 80 volunteering hours at a children's hospital but I doubt that would help me enough.

What time did they send out the wait list email to ya'll? I'm trying to figure out if they send out everything at the same time, like wait lists and denials.

1:15pm.

Waitlisted ... -_-

Well at least they like you enough to make you wait. Hahah. Nothing over here, folks. Congrats waitlisters! Still holding out some kind of misguided hope, but I think its time to hang the hat. jdskaggs im guessing no official withdrawal verification yet?

In this crazy life, you never know, that waitlist just might open up, man. Keep the faith.

UPDATE: Hahah I don't know why I said Congrats. I guess its kinda Congrats.

Nothing here, either. If there is just one wave of waitlist notifications then I'm guessing we can expect the denials on Thursday?

IF that's the case, I'm not that sad... If I get denied then I can cancel my last two pre-reqs for the summer and enjoy my time off, then have an easy-peasy fall semester (my kid is starting Kindergarten so it wouldn't be so bad to be more present for that than I would be in my first semester of nursing school). I'm taking the TEAS tomorrow afternoon and have been kicking butt at the practice tests. With all the A&P studying I've been doing over the week I feel like I can really bump up my HESI score and reapply to UTHealth for the spring with more competitive stats. Also, I think that if any of us do get denied it may be helpful to post our stats one more time on this thread to see if we can get any sort of feel for what's going on on UT's end (haha - how hopeful am I?..) I still had 6 pre-reqs left to take before the start of Fall 2017 and maybe that's something that some of us high-stat-deny-ees have in common?

In all likelihood, there is no rhyme or reason to any of this and it's all kind of a game of chance. BUT! Congratulations to the wait-listers! I feel like that means that you were in the running just as much as those accepted - your name just maybe wasn't pulled out of a hat - or however this works. :)

NOPE! No withdrawal response :( . But I guess the waitlist email was an answer to that response. Which is good news for all of us who have been wondering about the withdrawal rule. I am retaking some classes this summer so hopefully spring will work out next time around. And I agree. Best to think positively!

Maybe silly question: but any people that got accepted in this forum and will declined there acceptance??

Just trying to get an idea of how realistic or if we have a chance ? Thanks

Well, I seriously have over 20 withdrawals. Hahah I dont know if this is a special circumstance, but I also got a 94 on the HESI, 3.77 Pre-Req GPA and 4.0 Science. So Im still not convinced that my number of with drawals arent holding me back. Oh well. I probably wont be mentally satisfied until I can look someone into the whites of their eyes and hear it with my own auditory ossicles. Thanks guys and gals, its been real!

My stats are pretty comparable to yours... I scored a 90 on the Hesi, 3.87 pre-req GPA, 4.0 science, and have a prior degree. But I did drop 18 classes when I first started school. I still have not heard anything back from UTH, so I think there may be some validity when it comes to excessive drops.

I still haven't heard a thing. Any chance they haven't sent all acceptances yet?

Congrats to all the waitlisters! I really hope people take up offers elsewhere to open up spots for y'all!

@ldickerson I feel like we're in the same boat! I'm trying my best not to feel too disappointed about the real possibility of a rejection (haven't gotten a notification of being waitlisted) because of the same reasons. My oldest will be starting Pre-K this fall, so I'll get to really soak everything in without any distractions. I also get to postpone the one last class I had left, and focus on studying for the TEAS instead. Rejections suck, but it's nice to know there are silver linings. :) All great ideas, btw! I totally agree with your logic behind waitlisters - they're as good as accepted, considering the amount of applicants vs. amount of available seats. Good luck on your TEAS tomorrow!

Hi guys! No news for me, unfortunately. I have lost all hope. Hopefully next time around! Good luck and congrats again to all who have gotten in/waitlisted!

I also have received a waitlist notification earlier this afternoon around one o'clock. How many of us wait-listers do you think there are? And when do you think they will notify us if we have been denied or accepted?
