Fall 2017:UT Health Science Center Houston

Published

Hi all!

Thought I would start a thread for the fall semester! Anyone who wants to share their stats or anything about the application process can post them here! My stats as of now...

Pre-nursing GPA: 3.54

Science GPA: 3.67

HESI: 87.7

Pretty worried that my stats aren't good enough. Scored low on the A&P section of the HESI (80%) but made an A in the class...hoping maybe that will help even it out? I get discourage when I read through the other threads and see people get rejected with 4.0 GPA's and 90s on the HESI. :( I do have 80 volunteering hours at a children's hospital but I doubt that would help me enough.

I'm applying for Spring 2018 and created a thread for that, but I'm going to follow this one, too. You guys are posting some great information and I'm interested to see how it all turns out for you all. I went on the school tour yesterday and it only made me more motivated to get in. The school is truly like no other!

Out of curiosity, are you all applying for the PARTNERS scholarship?

Good luck to all of you!!!

Oh no I totally get it. It's a huge ordeal so I'm sure info gets mixed up. But all the same we need to know the truth lol

I just got off the phone with admissions and HESI definitely is the first and most important aspect of the application. They make all the first cuts based solely on the test scores before they even begin calculating GPA's. WOW I had no idea!

I'm wondering now what competitive is considered for that first round of cuts. I made a 90 overall with 88 being my lowest score which was in A&P. I've been afraid of taking it again because I feel comfortable but now I'm wondering if I should have.

This is what some were told about the Summer cohort too, and based on receiving my denial letter so soon it's probably true.

Does anyone know if they require ALL of the sciences they list or is it just 8 hours of a&p, Chem, micro--whatever 8 hours you took? The wording is a little misleading on the website. Just wanted to double check. Thanks!

Go back to the Summer 2017 discussion and look at people's statistics, then see if they posted acceptance or not. This should give you a good idea of what scores were accepted.

Additionally, I confirmed with admissions for the second time that your OVERALL GPA is looked at! Not just science and nursing prerequisite GPA's

Do you mean summer 2016?

Do you mean summer 2016?

No...Summer 2017.

I'm trying to find stats from old forums but most of it isn't people listing stats. Additionally, this is really skewed because most of the people on this site are probably high achieving students and lots of applicants don't even know about this site. Its not an accurate representation of the applicant pool. I got a 97.6% on the HESI and didn't score lower than a 96 on any one section. I have not seen a score higher than that. I only did so well because I prepared the TEAS for 3 months for my top choice school. The HESI was a walk in the park compared to the TEAS.

Your score is awesome.

No...Summer 2017.

Oh okay. On the website it says notification for summer 2017 will be sent out April 15th. I was confused.
