I am doing my last semester of prereqs this semester. I am just takin API over again to improve my grade (a B.........yes it is that competitive over here). If I get into the BSN program I want to for Spring 2010 I won't have to takeAPII over....and I will finally see an end in sight.:yeah: If not well........:(.....other pland will have to be enacted

Where are you looking to go? If I remember correctly from your other posts you're in the NY area, right? I am hoping to get into Columbia's ETP for summer 2010.

the red first semester.

I already have Nutrition done though so I won't have to do that one.

The classes are, NUR 109 Nursing fundamentals I think it is, NUR 112 Pharmacology and Mat 103 dosage and calculations.

Specializes in PCU, LTAC, Corrections.

I am not applying to the ColumbiaETP prgram. I don't have an initial BA/BS...besides even if I did I don't think I could survive its brutal price tag. I am going to apply to LIU-Brooklyn's BSN program...still pricey yet still in the realm of common sense. The bad side is that they require so many prereqs but I am 75% done with that. Forthe spring I wouldjust have an extra math, Eng, philo, and history.

What speciality are you hoping on doing for your MSN portion if you get in?

I hope to become an NNP or a PNP who specilaized in oncology.

Same here, NNP! I'm not even thinking of the price tag right now, let's see if I can get in and what can be worked out financially. But if I end up doing my BSN elsewhere, I still intend on going to Columbia for my MSN for sure, their NNP is top notch and ties to NY Presbyterian are ideal. The good thing about that grad program is that they require you to be employed full time while you're enrolled ... I can swing that! Hopefully I will be able to pay for the classes out of pocket by that time and I anticipate working for at least 2 years as an RN before that anyway, gives me time to save!

Specializes in GYN/GON/Med-Surg/Oncology/Tele.

Tuesday:

12-12:50, Test for Psychology (pre-req for Nursing)

Wednesday is same as Monday, and Thursday is Tuesday minus the psychology.

I'm taking 18 credits. I'll start A&P in January and hopefully get into NS in 2011. =)

I definitely plan on going to Columbia for my NNP ( which is the one I am leaning up to). I also like that you can have like a sub-specialty. When my times comes I would like to do the NNP w/ the specialty in Genetics in Advanced Practice but that is like 3-4 years down the road. I am actually looking up volunteer positions in Westchester (my home county) where I could volunteer and become a cuddler in the NICU for next semester.(I am going by faith that I get into LIU-Bklyn......I will be in the books this semester in order to pull an A in everything.)

Since the job market is so tight I was thinking it was best to show that the NICU is an area I really passionate about. LIU requires 100 volunteer hours however I don't mind volunteering for the 2 years ..while I do the clinical phase which I would start in Fall 2010. Unfortunately, there are usually one or two babies who sometimes have no family with them everyday due to travel distance, sometimes even parental disinterest, and sometimes court orders. I only see myself as a NNP as of right now. I have only seen two hospitals that have that program though and one is all the way in Queens.

What other schools are you looking into? Are you looking only at ABSN programs or both generic and accelerated? or are you only interested in programs similar to the Columbia ETP program?

I'm taking Psych Statistics MWF 9-950am

Basic Clinical Lab Skills M 10-1150am

World Lit I MWF 12-1250

Phlebotomy Theory W 11-1150

Basic Clinical Lab Skills Lab M 1-250

Intro to Health Careers M 3-350

General Chemistry I W 6-950

I'm taking 16 hours.

Spring will be mostly Psych classes, as I'm working towards my BS in Psych.

I already have all of my pre req's for nursing, and only have 1 more class that is non nursing for my bachelor's in nursing, and I'll take that in the spring. It's Human resource management.

Mondays

8:00 to 9:25 English I ( I have to retake this class for a better grade so I can get more points on my merit admission sheet, hopefully I get an A since I got a C the first time a few years ago)

Tuesdays/Thursdays

12:00 TO 1:50 Spanish II

2:20 TO 3:45 Nutrition

4:30 to 7:30 A&P II

Hopefully I will be in the nursing program in October this year so I can take nursing classes in the Spring.

You have some wonderful plans! I also like the fact that they have sub-specialties, I am considering the HIV/AIDS track but not definite about it yet. Then again, I have yet to find another school offering that. I am 100% sure I want to do neonatal though.

There is one hospital around here that has a NICU cuddling program, Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies in Orlando, and can you believe I just found out about it like last week???? Orlando is about 45 min to 1 hour drive from where I live, but I would definitely make the drive once a week if I could. If I had known about that back in Feb I would have singed up for that instead of my current volunteer service at my local hospital 2 miles away. But I like my current volunteer service even though it does not involve preemies (although occasionally I do get to go to the birthcare center). I am still going to look into Winnie Palmer but the problem is that they may want a year committment and I was planning on moving back to NYC in June (whether or not I get into Columbia). By the way, what hospitals in NY do have that NICU cuddler service that you know of? I would very much like to pursue that if I end up delaying my ABSN entry. If I have not started by next year, I will start to look into other ABSN programs (except for NYU, which for some reason I am not feeling as a program for me).

I'm only considering ABSN programs right now, am also considering Georgetown in DC especially since they offer that scholarship with the committment @ the hospital. Columbia is my first choice because of the ETP, the ideal NNP track and a chance to return to my hometown. I did however recently decide to apply to UCF in Orlando for next summer, but it's really competitive given that it's a state-funded school. But I figure I give it a shot, I would not mind staying an extra year for that.

I am continuing to work full time and take care of my one year old.

Fall 2009:

Microbiology (online with on-site lab)

A&P2 (online with on-site lab)

Whew! That will be enough! I can apply to the program I am interested in in January.
