Hey everybody! I just wanted to start a thread where all of us who are beginning the stressful process of worrying over Lonestar admissions can give each other some support! I'm planning on applying to LSC-Montgomery - retaking Psych 2301 in a Second 8 Weeks class to get an*A,* and getting ready to take the HESI in November when Moco's testing opens. I'm freaking out over how much is on the line...must make an *A!* Must blow HESI out of the water!!!!!
Anyway, just wanted to say good luck to everyone as their finishing up their prereqs and preparing for the HESI and ask...
LoneStar hopefuls...WHERE YOU AT?!! :heartbeat
Kathrine-I believe I read in the handbook that all tattoos had to be covered. It's an online handbook so you can read through it. I kind of skimmed over that part since I don't have any. I guess you would need to wear a long sleeved shirt or a bandage over it.
be-a-nurse-Go to "search for classes" on the lonestar website and click on clinical I under the fall schedule.
Wow, more acceptances...congrats you guys!!!!
Wannabetxnurse- I'm so sorry to hear that you have to decline your position. While I can't fully understand your situation, I have concerns about my husband's company (not a layoff...but a small chance of a possible move). I hope you guys can get back on track quickly and you can try again.
Now that I have been accepted, I'm getting really nervous. My most frequent thought? "Holy cow! They're going to let me be responsible for people's lives!?!" These thoughts are similar to the day that we took our oldest home from the hospital, and I think I've done just fine with him. I just always try to keep sight of the level of responsibility that I carry and do my best. I'll plan to keep that up in nursing.
Kaybee- Thanks for starting a new thread! I haven't been able to get back here for long to do it yet. It'll be great for talking about schedules and supplies and all of the other stuff.
I decided to go ahead and start a Facebook group, too, for Cyfair. It's LSC Cyfair Nursing Class of 2012 (hopefully that's when we'll all be graduating!). I set it to private, so we can plan meetups, study groups, etc., but not by invite only, since I don't have everyone's FB info. Here's the link-

Congrats lilag! I think we were posting at the same time. My letter to Montgomery said mid-July for the shots to be done. I already called my doctor's office a few weeks ago when I thought I started them too late. They said they could do it in 4 months with no problem. It's not a different shot or anything.
I was thinking that they could do them faster, so I'm glad you said that. I'm still waiting to hear back from my doctor's office, but if they won't move it up, I'll call the nursing department and explain the situation. We won't start clinicals until next spring, so I can't see how it would cause a problem. Fingers are crossed...
I tried to edit my post above, so I didn't post a bunch in a row, but it deleted everything that I tried to add. Grrr...
Katherine- I haven't seen anything about restrictions on what stethoscopes we're allowed to have, but I planned to wait until orientation just in case. However, my birthday is also coming up and my mom-in-law asked what I would like, so I asked for a Visa or MC gift card to use toward a stethoscope, BP cuff, supplies, etc. Would something like that work for you?
Also I haven't seen anything about tattoos, but I'd be surprised if they aren't strict about covering them. A friend of mine used to cover hers with a cuff watch and it was perfect...cute and covered her tattoo. I've read that we'll probably need a watch with a second hand for school, so if you'll be needing to buy one anyway, that may be an option.

Where did you have the information about the clinical schedule? Thank you.
