failed nclex three times i just wanna give up i have studied so much i do not know what to do any more...please help

First off, it doesn't matter how many times you have failed, as long as you don't give up what you worked hard for.

I failed twice and my 3rd try is first week of April.

Some study materials I have been using to touch up are:

- Kaplan Strategies book

- Exam Cram 3rd edition

- Pearson Vue questions program that my school provided me with

- and LOTS of info given on this website

You can do it! Don't over-think.

if content is not what you are worried about, it may be the test taking strategy side.

Are you comfortable with both content AND test taking strategy?

nursexo is right, it doesn't matter how many times you have failed. Be persistent and do not give up. I have failed 3 times as well and now have to take a remedial course as per NJBON. My classes start this saturday with Helen Feuer. I am excited and hoping the remedial classes will be the change I needed to pass my 4th time around.

Here is a list of study materials that I added to my routine:

~ Exam Cram Pn

~ Prioritization Delegation and Assignment by La Charity

~ Helen Feuer Audio

-heres the link : Nursing Information Technology: Feuer Nursing Review Lecture (audio) Free Download

~Still using Saunders 5th ed. for more content. I strongly believe that if you lack content then you won't be successful in answering questions. No matter how many strategies, techniques you learned on how to answer questions.

~ Planning on enrolling for the 3wk NCSBN course once I get to schedule my exam.

The most important of all is, you have to evaluate the way you are studying. You might be studying too much and nothing is retaining. That was my mistake. At first I couldnt accept my failure since I studied so hard. Too hard actually that I ended up failing. I need to slow down and not rush. I have to do it differently this time or else it will never be an ending cycle of failures.

Tell us how you are studying? what is your method of studying?

what do you feel is your weakest area regarding your NCLEX failed tests? lack of content, test anxiety or lact of strategy?

Are you doing questions? How many in total before the exam? how many a day?

Have you at least been able to get questions down to at least 2?

Have you taken a review class? which one?

How long have you been out of school? when was the last time u took NCLEX and how far apart from your 2nd test?

I would love to help you but need more information.

Hi Nursing Community Nurses and Students

I am new to the community and joined so i can pick up some motivation and tips! I have failed the nclex 3 times and i feel lost! When i study, i dont feel organized and i think everything is important. So i usually get overwhelmed and feel like i am getting nowhere. I also feel like i am all over the place with the studying. First two times i took the nclex i ran out of time from taking too long to answer questions, the computer never shuts off on me, i just run out of time. Panic always sets in!!! Last time i finished 265Q with one min to go. I felt a little more relaxed but kept second guessing myself. (Still didnt pass) I am a poor test taker and i am working on that right now. (HELP) I just started doing questions everyday to get comfortable with questions, something i wasn't doing before. I just kept going over content, content, content. I also time myself, if i do 100 questions i give myself 1 1/2 hours and if i do 250 i give myself about 5 hours.

I welcome advice, tips and strategies......please HELP!!!!

Well, this is one exam i think is really hard to study for because you really don't know what is going to be on your exam BUT, knowing content is important. i have noticed that once i read a topic, i fully understand that topic, iam able to answer questions right. Also Saunders 5th edition has all the Nursing content to where you can categorized, according to you liking, you can do just Application questions or just Analyzing questions which i believe are the critical thinking question...the more you practice more questions you start mastering not only the content but the pattern of strategy as well. All the best, just remember that if you survived Nursing school, you can pass this exam, stay positive

THank you diana2520 for the advice greatly appreciated........:loveya:

It helped me when I took B12 vitamin and ate whoe wheat bread and oatmill, Thymine containing food, all of this helps with memory and that is how I retain more information. Also, allocate a SEPARATE time for "worry time" or "time to think about doind other staff like bill paying and etc." It is very very important, because when you get distructed by many thoughts during studies, you can eaily free your mind from it by telling yourself "I have a special time for thinking about it, I do not have to worry about doing it now".

I was told that when you study you learn more if you hear your own voice, so vocalize some new staff that you are still unfamiliar with.

Aslo, if you believe in God, pray for anything that it takes to pass it next time. Only God may know what is what you need.

Do as many Kaplan tests as you can, I know someone who did it passed the exam on #5 attampt.

I feel ya, I failed twice and just took it agin today and won't know till mon, I need to pass the stupid test!! It's hard not to get discouraged and feel like your not meant to be a nurse after failing, but look at it this way, if you can get through school and graduate the program, then we can pass this stupid test!!! Good luck to you!!

topper0410

did you do pvt trick to find out if you passed?

Thanks Gena.........worrying about everything while i study does hold me back, still working on staying focused. I will start asking God for help!! Do forget that he is the one person i should be looking to for strength.
