failed the NCLEX twice and feeling like a failure :(

Published

I just found out that I have failed the NCLEX... for the second time.. I'm completely devestated.... Both times my exam went 265 questions and my results have said "near the passing score".. I've read/studied from 6 different review books including kaplan/saunders etc and I took an ERI review course including all the ERI online practice tests. I've just about given up and I'm so disappointed in myself. Every one of my friends from school has passed and started working already. And on top of that everyone at work is going to know I failed again bec I'll still be working as an aide. I'm so embarrassed.. Does anyone have any advice for me? I don't know what to do now......:bluecry1:

You are in the same boat as me! I have tested twice, taken 265 questions both times and "near passing standard". I felt the same as you have. I just wanted you to know you are NOT alone...I am in the same exact boat and I know exactly how you feel. I am going to start Suzanne's plan from the NCLEX forum. Maybe that will help you too?

I also took te nclex twice, and rigth now I'm feeling sooo lost. I've been reading the threads about courses and study plans, dos anyone knows if ATI is good? I've been thinking to pay for it, but it's close to 600 bucks, and i wanna be sure it's well worth it.

It's really hard for me, since I have a bachelor degree from Brazil, and I've been out of practice for almost 5 years raising my kids... I feel like a new grad again...

If anyone can give any tips I'll be very happy!!!!

I have 6 years of experience in nursing in Brazil, I and can't wait to get back

thanks

My most regret on how to prepare for the NCLEX was studying the ATI. It is not for test prepartion, it includes all the stuff that you study in nursing school but it is NOT NCLEX preparation. My friends and I was doing the ATI and we all regret it for life.

I totally agree!! My program required us to do ATI and I didn't get anything from it. It does not help.

I am so sorry that you had to experience such dissapointment after all of your hard work. Don't let it get you down (I know, it's hard to do). What me and my classmates did was to study up until a couple of days before the test and then put the books away! We then made sure we were rested and as relaxed as we could be on the big day. You know the information, don't doubt or confuse yourself. I always had trouble with tests. All of us that tried this approach, passed. I hope this helps. I'll hold positive thoughts for your landslide test passing!

Good luck to you.

Hey.. dont give up.. go with your first instinct.. dont stress... i think that there is sooooooooo much stress to pass the nclex and i think that its kind of hard to study for it.. they can ask you anything.. no matter how much you study.. i dont think you'll ever know every single thing that is being asked.. i think you should take a few days and relax. when you get your results back and it tells you where you need to focus.. do that and dont stress.. get a good nights sleep the night before..

good luck.. :nurse:

I recommend the NCSBN prep course. It's extremely affordable and easy to understand. The NCSBN actually write the NCLEX test questions for the NCLEX-RN exam. I found this course EXTREMELY helpful, passed on the first try. I recommended this course to others. As long as you follow their outline, and spend the time they recommend, you should pass. GOOD LUCK!!!

Don't worry I failed the NCLEX-RN twice and I went to question 265 both times. I did ATI with my program, Kaplan review, Saunders and Lippincotts book. I also was required to do 250 NCLEX questions a day and hand them in to my professor. I am now doing the NCSBN learning ext. It seems pretty good so far. Maybe that will help us

I used the NCSBN when I was testing for LPN. In a few months I plan on using again for the RN. I liked it better than Saunders and passed with minimum ques. the first time. Good luck

Hello bebe0586,

I am sorry to hear about your news but remember it's only a test and you can retake it. After you take a break to rest and restore your mind so you can think clearly get back up on that horse and start again. You have to be very close in passing so I encourage you to change up your study habits and check out Suzanne's Plan.:nuke: After reading the threads about what people thought she's had lots of success. I think sometimes you can have too many sources which overwhelms you causing anxiety etc. When I tested the 1st time 126, 2nd 79, 3rd 265 4th 265 so you are not alone. Angie0621 sent this poem to me and reads it every time this happened to her, it's beautiful here it is;

THERE IS NO GROWTH WITHOUT EFFORT.

You grow by responding positively to change.

Growth means change and change involves risks when

stepping from the known to the unknown.

Your strength and growth will come only

through continuous effort and struggle.

All your growth depends on activity.

There is no development without effort.

Trouble is the common denominator of living.

It is the great equalizer.

Your trials, your sorrows and your grief's will develop you.

Whatever good or bad fortune comes your way,

you can always give it meaning

and transform it into something of value.

Wealth is nothing, position is nothing, fame is nothing.

Who you become inside is everything.

What happens is not as important as how you react to what happens.

Good Luck to you and your studies when you feel the time is right. You have lots of positive support on allnurses!

I just want to let you know that you are not alone. I am in the same boat as you. Along with you I have failed my nclex twice first with 75 questions and then with 243. I felt like a failure especially after failing the second time but then I came to terms with it. Everything happens for a reason and God has a plan for us. He doesn't want to us to give up so we have to keep trying. Along with you everybody I know from my nursing school has also passed their boards which makes things even worse. After I didn't pass I the second time I debated whether or not I should start working at the hospital as a nurse tech until I passed. I eventually started a month ago and it was probably the toughest thing I have ever done. I hated feeling stupid and telling people that I haven't passed but everybody was very empathtic and encouraged me to keep trying. I currently am working on suzannes review course. I have heard good things about it so I would reccommend you trying! Well good luck and keep trying it will happen for both of us.

don't worry, i also failed in my firsttry . i am trying second time.

if there is a will there is a hope
