Failed NCLEX- PN twice

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hi, everyone I am very new to this and need to vent somewhere with someone. I took my NCLEX-PN friday and found out I failed today for the second time.. I told my husband and the first thing he said was " Really? your joking." " how did you fail again? after all that time in nursing school and you failed twice" I didn't know what to say I am speechless and reevaluating whether i should be a nurse or not.. I wanted to get into the RN program in the fall but i dont even know anymore if I am not an LVN. What should I do? I don't want to take the NCLEX again to fail... Not sure if i want to invest in another study program. I used the kaplan study program both times and failed. I was sure id pass this last time around but I didn't. I am so disappointed in myself.. I haven't even told my mom Ive failed twice. I have no clue what to do now. Please someone help.

Sorry to hear this . But just know your not alone , I also failed twice , wanted to give up , but coworkers of mine said don't . One had failed herself 3 times , the other had told me if I can do it at 18 wl a 2 yr old so can you . So I decided to invest in ATI virtual tutor . So far so good . They work wl you until you pass . Their pass rates are 98 % . It was $438.. I know whoa that's a lot .. But hey it will be worth it when I FINALLY pass . I wish you the best , after I pass I'll post it , the world will know when I finally pass this nclex

Wow that is a lot of money. I dont want to give up but at the same time im not the working. My husband is and making him pay each time I fail plus for another study program make ne feel guilty. Hes also outrun me through school so I don't know what to do..

Have you tried the NCSBN learning ext review? Its only 50$ for 3 weeks

I was thinking about it. But not sure if I want to test again or not. These two times totally killed my motivation and not sure what I will do... but I will look into it didnt know they had a 50$ review. Do you know how effective it is? @eddieyot?

What was below passing levels?

How were you studying? Were you going over just content or reviewing questions and rationales, using mock exams to prepare for the type of questions and endurance for the exam?

You may need to do a few adjustments, before taking the exam again.

I wonder if the unemployment office will help you pay for a review .

Nothing was. Everything waa at or above the passing rate and o e below the passing rate which was pharm on my first try. I just tested a second time friday so not sure what went wrong with that one. I did q bank read the Saunders book. Watched the videos on the Kaplan review. Jsimpson I dont think they would because once I failed the first time I called the kaplan test prep so they could extend my review which they did. It expired yesterday. The school I went to used them to study for the nclex.

Per your first review, it was pharmacology...when you get your performance review again, look at what was below passing; review those aspects; as well as call Kaplan and ask them to either extend or give you your money back.

If you need another review source, try the NCSBN, from the makers of NCLEX. Even if you do not need content, review the questions and rationales.

I will thank you. I dont think they could extend it again since I graduated in november. :/ it was included in tuition. I think ill give the ncsbn a try and see how that goes. Im just so scared to fail again.

Kaplan helps but you need to study from a few different books.. I used Hurst Reviews, Exam Cram PN and Kaplan. The more questions you do the more knowledge you will get. You need to dedicate at least 2 hrs of study time everyday. Don't give up, you can do it!!

I too failed again for the second time on Friday...my second time the computer shut off at 85 questions. Even though I'm annoyed I refuse to give up. Taken a two week break and I'll be back at it again...I think I might try hurst review still not sure what I need to work on. Will determine once I receive the results in the mail..
